No one wants to live in Columbus . That the problem. We have to over pay to make people come. We trade for players and they leave because they dont like Columbus. Its not for everyone.
There are three generations of players. The first is the 18-21 yr old who will fit right in because of all of the college age kids in Columbus and the third generation is the married family man who likes the quality of life Columbus affords his young family. The second generation is the single, young 22-30 yr old who is a multi-millionaire with money to burn. Lots of cities have more to offer them than Columbus. The trick for Columbus is to get them while their young and hope the city grows on them.

Agreed but makes jarmo job harder. So many fa leave for better spots. Not necessarily because our team is not competitive.

Major, why do u assume he will be bad. A “marginal top liner” is still significantly better than a Wennberg taking $5 million for 2 goals. Buy out Pooh who is a marginal 3rd liner, AT BEST, and spend that money on a marginal top liner that seems to make the team better.

Who knows. Maybe he hasn’t closed the door on Columbus just yet, I’d have to imagine that Jarmo is willing to throw the kitchen sink at him

Probably not, but.... maybe.

What about that 2 year $28 million contract now??

Make it $30.

That's perfectly good reasoning for next season's needs. Duchene would help next year.

You did hear the part about him costing $9m or $10m per over the max term right? And the part about him becoming a second line level talent for most of the deal?

For next year, who cares, we've got the money. Long run, signing Duchene would mean one less elite forward for the Jackets because they gave elite money to a second line level player. I expect we'll have a lot of better players in a few years.
