For the record, GMMicklebot's picks assuming he was at podium:

19: Tomasino
32: Kaliyev
37:Lavoie (or if taking Kaliyev at 32 meant Lavoie was gone, Afanasyev)

Also, I wouldn't have traded up, so if I still had 44 and 83

44: Afanasyev
83: Honka

So, in 5 years from now, it will be:

Thomas, Pinto and Mads Sogaard
vs
Tomasino, Kaliyev, Lavoie, Afanasyev, and Honka.

I like my group sooooo much better... Hope I'm wrong. I had the first three guys as toss ups at 19 for me, and Afanasyev as an intriguing guy that I was hoping would still be there at 32.
you wouldn’t have both Lavoie and Afanasyev in your scenario.

I'll play too (also would not trade up)

19: Heinola
32: Brink
44: Rees
83: Kokkonen

Why do we need so many similar or bottom-6 type centers; we really could've used a nice winger on the right side...
In any case we should all start the ritual to hopefully with the lottery next season.

I didn't trade up so I'd still have 44 and 83 (so I omitted 37th)
Your OP skipped pick 32 and went straight to 44 picking Brink, who wouldn't have been there. I can revert the post back to how it was in my quoted text (minus the bold) if you like...

Because they are cheaper and if they even pan out they wont demand much money. They would find a way to botch a lottery win no doubt as well.

Sogaard was mocked mid second round dude no way he's there at 83 and #2 nhl central scouting for goaltenders this draft.

Seriously not sure how anyone can think who we draft is motivated by money, or how anyone can be upset by who we pick beyond round 2.

Additionally, Dorion’s scouts should have enough credibility for everyone to back away from the ledge.

Outside of the 1st round, any players taken statistically has a less than 50% chance of playing something like 100 games in the NHL.

Absolutely. That being said - outside of the 1st i'd rather a player with 25-50% chance of success but top 6 upside versus a player with 75% probability of success and top 9 upside. The draft analytics say as much. Draft for skill as much as possible as you move farther in the draft. Moving up doesn't usually tend to be beneficial often either.
