That's why I mentioned I thought it was interesting because we know Hanzal is going LTIR at the start of the season which is decent cap padding for injuries/deadline acquisition.

It could also just be they bought out Val to give that cap space to Dickinson.

Yeah but no reason to sign Ceci for 5 years which is what Zaitsev still has left. Just give Ceci a 1 year deal and see how it goes. If it goes poorly whatever you let him go. Zaitsev can't be just let go.

Zaitsev requested a traded. He wasn't a cap dump as I understand it. It's essentially a lateral move to of a guy who wanted out. As long as the salary is close after Ceci signs, it shouldn't be an issue for them.
