The Bisons are off to the Town of Bedrock this week to face the Dinos. Each team in the CW has just 10 games left in the regular season. The Dinos are in a tight battle at the top, sitting in 2nd place just two points behind the Monkeys and two points up on the Mutts. Meanwhile the Bisons are relaxing on Gilligan's Island in 5th, 7 points away from 4th and 5 away from 6th.

These teams split their series in Friendly Manitoba back in October, where the Bisons ended Bedrock's unbeaten run. These teams also had a 2-2-0 split last year. Over the last 5 years the Bisons have the edge, standing 10-7-1 head-to-head.

The Dinos were my pre-season pick for 2nd, and that remains very feasible. For the Bisons, this has been the season-of-the-split, with 8 splits in 9 rounds.

For players to watch, the Bison captain, defenceman, and leading scorer Adam Henry is tied for 9th in league scoring and is always a stand-out. At the other end, the Dinos' Matt Alfaro leads the conference in scoring (13-14-27 in 18 games). His team-mate Coda Gordon is 3rd (4-16-20). Matthew Greenfield is back in goal for the Dinos and has good numbers: 7-3-0, .900 S%, and 2.43 GAA. Meanwhile, Tyler Brown has wrested the starter's job from Riley Lamb for the Bisons. His stats are better: 3-4-0, .929 S%, 2.58 GAA.

Regina's sweep of Lethbridge has dramatically altered their outlook on the season. They remain last, but just one point behind the Hørny Ønes and two in arrears of the T-irds. Suddenly that 6th and final playoff berth, which has eluded them since 2013, is suddenly more than a catnip mirage. To go anywhere, the Banjo Cats have always needed amazing goaltending. And Brandon Holtby provided that last week as he earned conference-wide, all-sports 3rd star honours. The T-irds sometimes look very close to contender status yet here they are.

After a sweep at the hands of Banjoland's B Squad, the Hørny Ønes now face the A Team. Even without Mr. T in the line-up, this could be the mismatch of the weekend. The Mutts did manage a split with the Evil Monkeys last week and are apparently well on their way back to contenbder status. If things go bad for the Hørny Ønes here, this season could unravel on them.

If the Bluegars are serious about a charge for 2nd place they need to pick up some points against teams like the Evil Monkeys. Though the Apes remain first, their lack of physical presence showed up against Sask, just as it did when they visited Manitoba. If MRU can do one thing, it is play physical. This is a home-and-home series.

The Bisons must bounce back in Saturday's matinee if they want to continue their split streak. Tyler Brown's stretch of solid poerformances came to an end as he was tagged with a loss after stopping 20 of 26 shots through two periods. Riley Lamb stopped all 11 shots he faced in 3rd period relief. Meanwhile, Matthew Greenfield stopped 17 of 20 for the W. Coda Gordon led the Dinos with 2 goals, and Devon Skoleski collected an assist on all 3 Bison goals. After giving up so many shorthanded goals this year, it was good to see Colton Veloso score one for the Herd for a change. Rematch goes Saturday at 3:00 MT/4:00 CT.

Quick Summary

The Banjo Cats have now reeled off three straight wins against their fellow bottom-dwellers to move from last to tied for 6th with the T-irds themselves. The Kittens are playing some D, holding UBC to 16 shots. Brandon Holtby stopped 14 to continue his hot goaltending. Rylan Toth stopped 17 of 21 in taking the loss. Scott Mikoski scored twice for Regina. The Tweety-Birds better find some old ladies armed with umbrellas to beat off these Puddy Tats in the rematch.

This score could have been way worse for the Hørny Ønes. The Banjo Mutts racked up 62 shots in this one. The Mutts must have broken into the Lethbridge Viagra supply. Jack Burgart joins the short list of goaltenders who stopped 57 in a losing effort. Taran Kozun had a leisurely evening, stopping 22 of 24 shots for a win.

The Evil Monkeys usually bounce back from losses really well, and this was no exception. If the Bluegars want to continue their serious challenge to join the elite, they really need to win the Saturday night rematch in Edmontown. The score might be a bit misleading. MRU held a 10-9 edge in 1st period shots, but the Apes held a 4-1 lead. MRU pulled starting goaltender Riley Morris after 17 minutes when he gave up his 4th goal on the 9th shot he faced. In a mop-up role, Wyatt Hoflin stopped 19 of 23. Meanwhile, Brendan Burke was back in Alberta's net, and stopped 20 of 22 for the win. The Monkeys had 8 different goal-scorers.

Jan 11: Yabba Dabba Doo! Another Split!

The Saturday afternoon games were playoff-style battles, whilst the night games were crazy wild-west shootouts. Here are the details.

The Bisons have now split 9 of their 10 series played to date. From mid-way through the 1st period through the end of the 2nd period, they held a decisive edge in play, and a 2-0 lead. Bedrock U started the 3rd period on a PP, came within one on Vanstone's goal (Vanstone, meet Tim Vanstone ...), applied lots of pressure, but never did even the scores. Riley Lamb was back in goal and stopped 38 of 39 shots for the win. Colton Veloso had both Bison goals, and a skate to the chin. Bedrock U stuck with Matthew Greenfield in goal, and he stopped 26 of 28 to take the loss.

Quick Summary
1st 17:08 MAN Colton Veloso (6) ASST: None
2nd 12:37 MAN Colton Veloso (7) ASST: Skoleski Christensen (PP)
3rd 03:39 CGY Tim Vanstone (4) ASST: Elder Alfaro (PP)

So on the weekend, Veloso got 3 goals and Skoleski 4 assists. Next week the Herd is off to British California. Next home action is against Regina on January 24th and 25th.

Funny what a 4-game winning streak will do. Is p***y Power the big thing for the 20's? Well, before get too excited all these wins came against the other bottom-of-the-table teams. Still, all the Banjo-Cats need to do is match UBC and Lethbridge and they'll have their first playoff berth since 2013.

In this one, the Kittens did not shut down the T-irds as on Friday night. Instead they relied on Brandon Holtby to stop 41 of 42 shots for the win. UBC switched to Patrick Dea in net, and he stopped 31 of 33 in defeat, still a good night's work. In the opening frame, UBC led 1-0 after outshooting Regina 13-6. In the 2nd, Regina turned the tables, outshooting UBC 10-5 and it was tied 1-1. UBC dominated the 3rd period and 1st overtime, with a 24-16 lead in shots. However, in 3-on-3 Regina scored on the only shot.

After the Mutts personified the A Team in lambasting the Hørny Ønes on Friday night, this was more of a Dukes of Hazard, without Daisy Duke. It certainly was no Fantasy Island for either coach. After two periods, it was a 4-4 game, and Sask had outshot Lethbridge 34-28. The Mutts exploded in the 3rd period to turn a toss-up into a route. Sask switched goaltenders, starting Travis Child. He stopped 35 of 40 shots for the win. Lethbridge started Taz Burman, who stopped 32 of 38 in defeat, Jack Burgart stopped 11 of 12 in relief. Sask was led up front by Colin Shirley with a hat-trick. So the teams combined for 91 shots. Ugh!

This weekend was clearly the low-point of the Bluegars' season. It was a surpise to me. As shocking as was the final score, the fact that it was 6-3 after the 1st period is the big shocker. The Monkeys built a 4-1 lead before I started watching this one. Then MRU scored twice and it seemed the game would unfold in a somewhat normal manner. But noooooooooooooooo! The Evil Monkeys popped in two more for as 9-goal period. Monkey started Brendan Burke was yanked in the midst of this Gong Show, making just 4 saves on 7 shots. Matt Berlin came in to stop all 16 shots he faced. At the other end, Wyatt Hoflin was yanked after 12 saves on 18 shots. Riley Morris came on with 26 saves on 27 shots. Cole Sanford's hat-trick led the way for the Apes.

With the Dino's loss, Alberta in control of the West. Looks like someone will need to sweep them, in order to challenge for first place. No question that the Bears have the offence, but their goaltending looks suspect. Burke yanked after giving up 3 on 7 shots.

Remember the CW plays double-headers only and Calgary has yet to play both Sask and Alberta in their 8 games, 4 series. Their destiny is their own hands.

I think we can pencil-in Manitoba at Mount Royal in the quarter-finals.

The Bisons are off to British California for their annual west coast trek. And what a time to go. UBC holds an annual Winter Classic game, which draws a massive crowd, and that lands on Friday. This year, the T-irds will be honouring their 1971 conference championship team, their last titlist. That team defeated the Bisons in the final. They did make it to the conference final in 1975 and 1978, during the era where the CW and GPAC were split into separate conferences.

The Bisons are nicely nestled into 5th place, and seem to be tuning up for the playoffs. Meanwhile, the T-irds have now fallen out of the playoff picture, albeit just one point in arrears of 6th place. So there is massive urgency for UBC. After this weekend, they have just two home games left. As a result, the Bisons will have mighty big targets on their heads this weekend.

These two split their previous series (as the Bisons have done 9 of 10 times thus far), and UBC seemed to be a decent enough team. Over the last 5 years, both sides are 9-8-1 going head-to-head. Even this year, on goals-for-and-against UBC is only a -20, while Regina is -34 and Lethbridge is -44. Not many pundits picked UBC to miss the playoffs.

Since that series against the Bisons, UBC has just two wins – those being a convincing sweep of Lethbridge. However, I recently saw good portions of their games against Regina and Calgary and they seemed OK.

The Birds have just one player in the CW's Top 40 scorers, Austin Vetterl (4-9-13). Manitoba has four now, including Adam Henry (6-9-15) on defence, and a trio of sophomore forwards coming into their own, namely Jeremey Leipsic (6-8-14), Devon Skoleski (4-10-14), and Keaton Jamieson (2-11-13).

In goal, Birds' 3rd year Rylan Toth is a solid but unpectacular CW starter. This year he's 3-8-4, 3.03 GAA, .898 S%. Backup Patrick Dea has comparable numbers at 1-3-1, 2.67 GAA, .885 S%. Meanwhile, three rookies have given the Bisons stellar goaltending. Riley Lamb won the starter job (6-4-1, 3.11 GAA, .915 S%), then Tyler Brown wrested it away (3-5-0, 3.14 GAA, .914 S%) before Lamb jumped back in last Saturday. #3 goaltender, Jeremy Link, deserves some playing time. He had one start (against UBC) and stopped 45 of 47 shots in a loss.

How the season has turned around for the Banjoland's loveable losers. They seemed well on their way to yet another dismal last place finish. But alas! Four straight wins and they now sit in 6th place and seem to be on fire. Brandon Holtby has emerged as a bona fide starter (6-7-1, 2.59 GAA, .920 S%). The other Cats in this fight, like the Bisons, are all by themselves in mid-table with nobody close to them. Is the Bluegar confidence shaken after mounting a solid challenge early on? Or will this allow them to retrench for the playoffs?

Michael Buffer needs to do the intros in this series. If one team could sweep they would likely get 2nd place and the bye which goes with it, in addition to hosting the semi-final series these teams seem destined to play. The Banjo Mutts' slow start has been completely overcome. I'm not sure what to make of that Saturday night gong-show last weekend (giving up 5 goals on 40 shots against Lethbridge), perhaps it was just a one-off. I did pick Bedrock U for 2nd in my pre-season picks.

Welcome to the squash match of the weekend. The Hørny Ønes have not come back well from the Christmas break, having 4 straight losses by 3 goals each. Regaining their form against the Evil Monkeys seems onerous. The closest the Monkeys have had to a slump is two losses with 5 goals against in each (against Manitoba and Saskatchewan) in a 5-game stretch. In my estimation the Hørny Ønes would be quite happy to pick up even one point in this set.

Jan 17: Sell-out Crowd Sees Birds Beat Bisons

The late result from the west coast means this is a truncated post.

The scroeline does mislead. UBC scored two empty-netters. It was 4-2 with 3 minutes left and the Bisons were on the powerplay. So the rematch should be a tight one.

Quick Summary
1st 16:08 UBC Quinn Benjafield (5) ASST: Carvalho & Revel
2nd 15:54 UBC Austin Vetterl (5) ASST: Sandhu & Smith
2nd 18:40 UBC Tyler Sandhu (8) ASST: Kryski
3rd 05:14 MAN Ben Dalke (3) ASST: None
3rd 09:03 UBC Maxwell James (5) ASST: Smith & Sandhu (PP)
3rd 10:32 MAN Adam Henry (7) ASST: Skoleski (PP)
3rd 18:08 UBC Colton Kehler (3) ASST: None (EN, SH)
3rd 19:10 UBC Tyler Sandhu (9) ASST: Becker & Pouliot (EN)

Rylan Toth got the win with 20 saves on 22 shots, and Riley Lamb took the loss with 37 saves on 41 shots.

There was a lot of ill-will at the end. One T-ird had a late hit on Keaton Jameson with 30 seconds left. He retaliated, and Carter Doerksen felled a T-ird himself. Then Tyler Sandhu ran the net with 4 seconds left to set off shoving matches all over the ice. Saturday's matinee rematch should be interesting.

The Bisons were up 1-0 until late in the 3rd period before they let this one slip away. Colton Veloso continued his hot streak, scoring his 8th of the year in the opening frame. Geordie Keane and Keaton Jameson registered assists. It appeared that they were on the verge of a breakthrough, but then came the 3rd where they went into that proverbial shell. Austin Vetterl capitalized with 5 minutes left, then again in the 2nd overtime, to steal away 2 points for the T-irds.

The Bisons went back to Tyler Brown and he stopped 39 of 41 shots in the extended encounter. UBC stuck with Rylan Toth, and he stopped 28 of 29 for the win.

The Bisons are now at home for their final two homestands of the season, next against the Banjo-Cats then against the Banjo-Mutts.

The Hørny Ønes have really hit the skids this semester. The Evil Monkeys are not a good squad to face at times like this.

The winter is flying by. There are only 6 regular season games remaining for every team in the CW. After this weekend, every team will have one home and one away series.

The Bisons could officially clinch a playoff berth this weekend. They are 3 points ahead of UBC and 5 points up on Regina, and must only finish ahead of one of them. (Lethbridge are 9 points back and I don't see them getting 9 points in 6 games.)

The Banjo-Cats had an amazing 4-game winning streak come to a screeching halt last weekend. So was the sudden streak an anomoly? Or have the Kittens turned the corner?

Of concern to the Moonshine Drinkers ought to be that goaltender Brandon Holtby's bubble burst. His season stats line is still really good (6-8-2, 2.76 GAA, .917 S%), and way better than the other two (Curtis Meger and Dawson MacAuley) combine for 0-5-1, 6.92 GAA, .811 S%. They need goaltending to stand a chance. Their top scorer (Connor Chaulk) is tied for 42nd in the CW at 5-7-12.

On the Bison side, Colton Veloso has found the range. He sniped 3 goals last weekend, for 8 on the season. The young lineup has provided a balanced attack, with 9 players in double digits (Adam Henry, Devon Skoleski , Jeremey Leipsic, Keaton Jameson, Colton Veloso, Geordie Keane, Dylan Thiessen, Jonah Wasylak, and Ben Dalke). Six of those are sophomores, two are 5th years, and one is a rookie.

The games on Friday night at the U of M are part of the Bell Let's Talk Promotion. Last year it was free toques! It's a good cause.

Although the T-irds had their best weekend of the season last time out, they now face perhaps the most steadily-improving team in the country. Last weeekend's back-to-back shutouts of Calgary is a strong feat. The Banjo-Mutts are now 4 points behind the Evil Monkeys. Now, I don't see them making up that gap but they are clearly of similar calibre to such opponents.

Last weekend's sweep at the hands of the Banjo-Mutts leaves the Bedrock Dinos in a position where they just want to nail down 3rd place and (arguably) a slightly weaker quarter-final opponent. The Evil Monkeys have had a strong season but, on occasion, they have had trouble with a physical side. So let's see if the Dinos try to lay on the body. This is one of two home-and-home Battles of Wexitland on the weekend.

The Hørny Ønes played a lot of good hockey before Christmas. But they must be having a horrible new year's hangover with these 6 straight losses. Of concern is the goals against, and the massive shots allowed per game. Their series totals were:
- 8 goals on 67 shots by Regina
- 13 goals on 113 shots by Sask
- 14 goals on 104 shots by Alberta

The Bluegars are almost guaranteed of a top 4 finish, and might even catch their cross-town rivals for 3rd. So not much sense of urgency in this home-and-home series.

This is one the Herd let slip away. The Bisons held a slight edge in play for the bulk of the game (35-24 shot clock more or less reflected the flow), but were prone to sudden breakdowns. Yet another shorthanded goal against, which is a disturbing trend.

The first period was nice, a 3-0 lead and a 12-5 lead in shots. The 2nd period started the same way. It seemed the Banjo-Cats were happy to curl up in a corner and play with some catnip. Both before and after the shorthanded goal the Bisons generated a lot of close calls. But once the Kittens were on the board, the tone of the game changed.

Quick Summary
1st 18:14 MAN Adam Henry (8) ASST: Veloso & Skrumeda
1st 19:02 MAN Josh Tripp (3) ASST: Wasylak
1st 19:36 MAN Dylan Thiessen (5) ASST: Dalke & Carlson

3rd 06:06 MAN Devon Skoleski (5) ASST: Jameson & Veloso
3rd 08:36 REG Tristan Frei (7) ASST: King (PP)

There was one goal on ten shots in the shootout, with Connor Chaulk getting the winner for Regina.

Brandon Holtby stopped 31 of 35 for the win, and Tyler Brown stopped 19 of 23 in the loss.

Rematch is Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

This was a nice bounce-back win for Bedrock U after two shutouts a week ago. Brodan Salmond got the win for the Dinos, with 29 saves. Brendan Burke stopped 14 of 15 shots for the loss. Clearly, goaltending is the potential achilles heel for the Evil Monkeys.

The Hørny Ønes were within 3 seconds of a surprise victory but, alas, they ran out of Viagra. The Bluegars showed some resolve in fighting back in this one. The game was tightly contested for two periods before the Bluegars exploded in the 3rd period, with 19 shots. Jack Burgart was equal to the task in the Lethbridge net, and stopped 44 of 47 shots in the loss. MRU were led by Keegan Iverson's two goals and Riley Morris, who stopped 24 shots for the win.

The Banjo-Mutts are the CW's hottest team right now, but the T-irds gave them all they could handle. This loss has to sting. With just over a minute left, Sask scored shorthanded to deprive UBC of at least a point. This was costly because it allowed Regina to pull even with them in the standings.

Vety odd game at Clare Drake Arena in Edmonton last night.
The Golden Bears gave away two goals; got frustrated (PP's: Calgary 1/8 and Alberta 0/2); still outshot the Dinos 31-19 but lost 5-2.

Not very confident with the Bears goaltending tbh. The fourth goal where Burke gave the puck to the Dino’s player to score in the empty net was the back breaker. If the Bears make nationals I would be nervous in a lose one and your done scenario.

Especially when you match up with against an opponent that can come close to matching the Bears in puck possession. On the other hand, not many can, but it won't be easy if they draw Acadia, Carleton etc...

Speaking of one and done, I believe Burke was in nets when Alberta was beaten by Acadia in the 2017 University cup. Acadia's goaltender was red hot in that game.
Burke and Berlin split losses this weekend, not sure who was in their net, when they were shut out 5-0 by the Huskies recently?

Berlin played that game. It’s the type of goals they are giving up lately that’s the most concerning for both Burke and Berlin. The Bears defence keeps the dangerous scoring chances to a minimum in most games, so the goalies just have to make sure they make the saves they should be making

Jan 31: Bisons Robbed in Overtime

After last Saturday's matinee I had to take a bit of an all-star break to get some work done. So here we are back at it again. Quick blurb on last Saturday's game: The Bisons fell behind Regina 5-0 on a mixture of bad breaks, opportunistic goal-scoring, and poor play before outshooting them 24-2 in the 3rd period and falling short.

Now, on to the opening night of the penultimate weekend of the CW season ....

On the positive side, the Bisons outplayed the Banjo-Mutts and really deserved to beat the hottest team in Usports (2-4-2 in Sept/Oct, 16-1-0 since). The Bisons outshot them 36-27 on the night!

However, there was a major downside when Sask's Sam Ruopp blind-sided Jonah Wasylak with a high-stick head-shot. He was given 5 minutes and tossed with a match penalty. I would not bet on him being available any time soon.

Quick Summary
1st 02:16 SSK Neuls (5) ASST: Ballhorn & Young (PP)
2nd 10:19 MAN Christensen (2) ASST: Tripp & Wasylak
2nd 19:29 SSK Stadnyk (13) ASST: McVeigh & Harmsworth (SH)
3rd 05:52 MAN Skoleski (7) ASST: Henry & Leipsic (PP)
5th 02:26 SSK McVeigh (5) ASST: Stadnyk & Ballhorn (PP)

The Bisons started 7 defencemen (along with Skrumeda and Carlson, defencemen who have been moved up to forward allo season). Hopefully, they have a forward available in sub in for Wasylak.

Once again, the Bisons were victimized by a shorthanded goal against. This has been a problem all year. The Bisons had the only even-strength goal in the game, and in fact had it not been for powerplays there would have been virtually no offence from the Mutts. The final powerplay goal arose from a neutral zone trip by Adam Henry on what would have been a very borderline call, or perhaps an offsetting embellishment call, even in regulation.

Taran Kozun stopped 34 of 36 for the win, and Tyler Brown stopped 24 of 27 in the loss.

The rematch goes Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. After the penalties on Friday, I wouldn't be shocked to see some battles happening. Sask remains tied with Alberta for 1st, Manitoba is alone in 5th and 3 points ahead of Regina and UBC.

I expected the Evil Monkeys to be loaded like bears after being swept last weekend. This seems to have been a routine whuppin typical of what these teams usually produce. Matt Berlin stopped 7 of just 10 shots for the win (not a great ratio) and Brandon Holtby stopped 37 of 43 in defeat. The Bisons are in 5th place with 22 points, 3 ahead of the Kittens.

The Hørny Ønes actually held a 1-0 lead after the 1st period. But they have really hit the skids this semester (now 0-7-2). Rylan Toth got the win with 26 saves and Jack Burgart stopped 28 of 33 in the loss. UBC now pulls into a tie with Regina for 6th, and within 3 points of the 5th place Bisons.

The annual Crowchild Classic game at the Saddledome went on Thursday, and it is usually more intense than a regular game. After a scoreless 1st period, the Bluegars built a 3-0 lead in the 2nd. However, Bedrock U rallied with three unanswered of their own in the 3rd. Riley Morris got the win (27 saves) and Brodan Salmond got the loss (33 saves).

Friday's rematch was a stunner, as it allowed the Bluegars to jump into 3rd place. What a rollercoaster in Bedrock! The Dinos swept the Monkeys just last weekend. Neither side switch goaltenders. Morris stopped 33 of 34 for the win, and Salmond stopped 19 of 22 for the loss.

The Bisons allowed a late goal which denied them a valuable point they needed to almost clinch a playoff berth. As it is, they are almost there.

Quick Summary
1st 00:48 MAN Ryan Carlson (5) ASST: None
1st 03:15 MAN Ryan Carlson (6) ASST: Skrumeda & Henry
1st 08:56 SSK Justin Ball (3) ASST: Dmytriw & Shirley
1st 10:40 SSK Kohl Bauml (8) ASST: Ballhorn & Cable

3rd 07:01 MAN Adam Henry (10) ASST: Christensen & Barley
3rd 17:02 SSK Jared Dmytriw (10) ASST: Neuls

Although the Bisons jumped out to a 2-0 lead courtesy Ryan Carlson, the Mutts dominated play for a large stretch of the game. The Mutts held a 3-2 lead and a 35-8 lead in shots after two periods, which was a world of difference from Friday's game. The 3rd period was a great battle, where the shots were 11-11. After Adam Henry tied the game in the 3rd period, it seemed only a matter of time before the Bisons won it. However, it was Mongrel Jared Dmytriw scored one that goaltender Riley Lamb would love to have back. Any hopes of a comeback were dashed on a fringe elbowing call on Ben Dalke, followed by 2 minutes to Lamb for arguing.

Here's how they aligned:

Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur!
Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr, purr, purr.

This is one matchup which has bedeviled the Banjo-Cats for years. This was the Evil Monkeys' 53rd straight win over the Kittens. Brendan Burke stopped 12 of 13 for the win, and Curtis Meger stopped 35 of 41 in the loss. Brandon Holtby's goaltending launched the Kittens into contention but it seems that streak is over. Dawson MacAuley dressed as the backup.

The Hørny Ønes were severely outshot (45-22) yet held a 4-3 lead well into the 3rd period. Matt Revel scored twice for the T-irds, includign the winner, and Rylan Toth stopped 18 of 22 for the win. Taz Burman's 40 stops were not enough to avoid defeat. That's 10 straight losses for Lethbridge this semester.

STANDINGS

20-02-01-Standings.jpg

So we have three separate races on the final weekend (1-2, 3-4, 5-6-7). The Bisons need a combination of two points from themselves and/or two points dropped by Regina to clinch a playoff berth. Meanwhile, UBC needs a combination of three points from themselves and/or three points dropped by Regina to clinch their playoff berth. None of these races will feature any direct match-ups on the final weekend.
