To those complaining about the loss of a home game, recall with the WJCs, Sabres are vacating use of Key Bank for essentially 2 weeks, especially when considering the NHL mandated holidays 12/24-12/26.

Can we ban tank talk except in one thread? It's infuriating listening to this ****
Feel free to use the ignore function. There isn't a tank thread and I didn't create the draft system so don't blame the messenger. I'd take a better pick/lotto chances over 1 extra meaningless point from OT loss any day of the week. Unless you actually expect we can go like 29-10-4 for the rest of the season or something like that for a playoff push

Sabres with the first home game filmed from the dark recesses of outer space..Camera zoomed so far out with terrible lighting even for an outdoor game. Refs shielding their eyes from the sun definitely gives me confidence that they won't be any blinder than they're normally.

Be-low-yuioh, Poo-lee-it , Sammy..constant Crosby reminders. "Gionta retired" and "The leading point getter in Kane."Even after they took away Eichel's assist this game hes still "the leading point getter".. At least do some homework on how to say the player's names or who is actually leading the team in points maybe? The refusal to call interference on two different people preventing Eichel getting to the puck, only to get a penalty in OT. This game was beyond shit.

Maybe go take a moment to create a tank thread. We’ve done it before to maintain people sanity and removed “tank talk” from the game day threats.

What's the deal with Kane getting accidentally two handed in the face with a stick, bleeding all over his visor, and the Sabres not even getting a powerplay? Should've been 4 minutes. That's just embarrassing.

Just refs being blind as usual. On the main page a few people are saying "follow through" but that doesn't apply to swinging recklessly at a bouncing puck (in which he missed).

60.1 High-sticking - A "high-stick" is one which is carried above the height of the opponent's shoulders. A player is permitted accidental contact on an opponent if the act is committed as a normal windup or follow through of a shooting motion. A wild swing at a bouncing puck would not be considered a normal windup or follow through and any contact to an opponent above the height of the shoulders shall be penalized accordingly.

They missed the high stick, but the next two Rangers penalties were make-up calls IMO.

I said this elsewhere but if the rags make the playoffs by a point over the Isles, Jackets or some other team their fans and organization have every right to be furious this game was allowed by the league. The rags essentially got an extra home game and one less road game.

That was the Rangers fourth one? Yeah. The novelty wears off...
technically only their 2nd winter classic. The other 2 were stadium series games 3 days apart vs the devils and islanders in January 2014.

Once jack is on a superstar pedestal there's no limit to what marketing geniuses won't do. A matthews vs eichel outdoor game will be to enticing for marketing to pass up
I think a lot would have to happen first, that would start with the sabres getting good, before that would ever be considered. Jack is great but to get to superstar pedestal status he's gonna need to win or at least be in the running for some individual awards and/or take the team far in the playoffs. He's going to need to do face of the league stuff like be a regular all-star game participant. He's going to need Olympic appearances for some broader national recognition which won't happen until the NHL goes back to the Olympics in china in 4 years most likely. And there's going to need to be a bigger rivalry feel to the Sabres/Leafs games which won't happen until both teams are good and are competing for playoff seeding and probably a couple playoff series as well.

In the finale of Road to the NHL Winter Classic, the players and their families get their first taste of the frigid temperatures at Citi Field during team practices and the family skates on New Year’s Eve.

Also, cameras and mics capture the excitement among fans and players alike, despite the extreme elements, of the thrilling Winter Classic battle that ended with Rangers forward J.T. Miller’s overtime goal.

Just watched the 4 episodes, and as much as people say Jack is whiney or not a leader, he damn sure seemed like a leader in the few shots of him in the locker room. He's talking to the guys, telling them what he's seeing on the ice and how to respond, and you can see the frustration and want to win in his demeanor. He's frustrated, but he wants to make the team better. He shows more emotion and drive than Housley ever does.
