Genuinely had to go to the assets sticky to track down the draft thread for Budik. Couldn't remember him at all.

The 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship will give NHL teams a glimpse of how some of their top prospects are developing.
All 31 NHL teams will have at least one player skating for one of the ten countries.

Here are 10 drafted players to keep a close eye on during the tournament:

Carter Hart, G, Canada (Philadelphia Flyers) - Miro Heiskanen, D, Finland (Dallas Stars) - Klim Kostin, C, Russia (St. Louis Blues) - Timothy Liljegren, D, Sweden (Toronto Maple Leafs) - Victor Mete, D, Canada (Montreal Canadiens) - Jake Oettinger, G, United States (Dallas Stars) - Sam Steel, C, Canada (Anaheim Ducks) - Eeli Tolvanen, RW, Finland (Nashville Predators) - Kailer Yamamoto, RW, United States (Edmonton Oilers) -

Casey Mittelstadt, C, United States (Buffalo Sabres): The No. 8 pick of the 2017 draft will play his first meaningful games in his future NHL city. He's fourth among NCAA Division I freshmen with 17 points (five goals, 12 assists) in 19 games at the University of Minnesota. Mittelstadt, 19, played left wing on the top United States line during the World Junior Summer Showcase, but played center and wing during the final evaluation camp, and could be in both spots during the tournament.

@BuffaloSabres fans in attendance got a great glimpse of the future.
Casey Mittelstadt with a laser from the wing that goes bar down...1-0 Unites States in the 1st Period.

Fabian Zetterlund's deflection ties it at 1 for Sweden with 5:08 left in the 1st Period.

Victor Fernandes‏ @GoErieHockey -
Casey Mittelstadt nearly cashes in on the PP as the 1st Period horn sounds.
United States and Sweden tied at 1 after 20 min.

Lukkonnen stops 13/15 as the Finns beat the Czech Republic 4-2 in a tuneup at Dwyer Arena. The GA1 was a PP marker that was swatted in out of the air after Lukkonnen made an initial save on Necas. The GA2 started with a wrister from the point that got knocked down in traffic and the CZE player pulled the puck out, dragged it backhand and flipped it passed a prone Lukkonnen.
