Penguins fans aren't happy with the latest trade involving the 31stOV. Why? Look what your team just did recently. Can't keep everyone happy I guess.

It did cost them Kostin...who's gonna be a very good player and should have been selected earlier. Probably his injury that scared GM's away...

Going off of the NHL Prospect Rankings...

NA skaters still available
#14 Jason Robertson LW 6'2 196 (L)
#15 Isaac Ratcliffe C 6'6 200 (L)
#18 Conor Timmins D 6'2 184 (R)
#20 Nicholas Hague D 6'6 207 (L)
#21 Jaret Anderson-Dolan C 5'11 191 (L)
#23 Kole Lind RW 6'1 185 (R)
#24 Grant Mismash LW 6'0 181 (L)
#25 Nick Henry RW 5'11 190 (R)

Euro Skaters still available
#10 Jesper Boqvist C 5'11 165 (L)
#12 Marcus Davidsson C 6'0 191 (L)
#13 Alexei Lipanov C 6'0 169 (L)
#14 Ostap Safin RW 6'5 192 (L)
#15 Filip Westerlund D 5'11 174 (R)
#16 Alexandre Texier C 6'0 187 (L)
#17 Joni Ikonen C 5'11 177 (R)

Of the above, for #35, my "rankings":
1. Robertson
2. Lind
3. Ratcliffe
4. Ikonen
5. Timmins
6. Henry

We have Colorado, Vancouver, and Vegas ahead of us.
  • Colorado probably snags Robertson (they took a D in the 1st)
  • Vancouver should grab Timmins (since they went forward in round 1)
  • Vegas is a wild card here, so BPA for them may be Ratcliffe (their forward ranks could use a big Center in the system)

So, my guess would be that we end up with Lind, but we could possibly select Hague or Ikonen.

Hoping we trade back, and I am hearing rumors we are...

#35 to PHL for #44, #75, and #108

Well, I wish we would have kept #35 and drafted Robertson or Ratcliffe, but the scouts know better tan I do.

At this point, I guess it's RHS or bust for the rest of the draft

I like Entwistle better than those guys. I think we did well.

Happy with the Crotty pick, okay with the rest today except for Westerlund at 44. Really wish we picked up Ikonen instead - we still lack a talented RH goal scorer in our pool, and Ikonen fits that bill and more.

Just a bunch of pick for more later picks trades and we learned our 2018 pick from Calgary for Smith is actually 2019.

Not sure I'm thrilled with the first trade down, but the "more picks the better" is a generally sound idea in any draft. Best way to get a couple hits out of the draft is to simply have more swings.

I swapped the 35 for 44 + 80 in a few mocks I participated in. Thrilled that Chayka effectively did the same and also managed to get a fourth added to it.

Not really a fan of who he ended up picking at 44, but am very pleased Chayka aggressively moved down multiple times in this draft to accumulate picks. There's a lot of unsung talent in a so-called weak draft (that was only relatively weak at the top).
