Prospect Info: 2016 Annual Prospect Poll #7

The Finnish...Flesh...wins! Who's next?

This year's results:
Rank | Prospect | yearly change | overall change 1 | Theodore | +1 | +10 (since 2013)
2 | Ritchie | +1 | +2 (since 2014)
3 | Montour | +1 | +9 (since 2014)
4 | Larsson | +4 | +4 (since 2015)
5 | Jones |n/a|n/a
6 | Nattinen | +4 | +4 (since 2015)

Each poll will be open for 48 hours. If it's not close after 24 hours, I'll call it. If it is, it'll go the full 48. In the event of a tie after 48 hours, a 24-hour runoff will be held. The winner will get the open spot; the loser will go back into the pool, not get the next-lowest rank. The poll will go up to #25. Players are in the poll on the basis of HF's prospect criteria. Essentially, skaters with less than 65 games before the season of their 24th birthday, or goalies with less than 45 games before the season of their 24th birthday, are considered prospects. There are some nuances with respect to older-signed players, which I believe only applies to Garret Metcalf this year.

Vote on players using whatever criteria you like. This isn't the readiness poll or the talent poll or the most-likely-to-be-best poll, it's just a survey of who we as Duck fans like.

I'd say it's an even toss up between Kerdiles, Kossila, Sorensen, Steel, and Terry. Kossila gets my pick due near-NHL readiness and skill as a center (especially good on faceoffs).

Welinski and Kase are in this group as well I think, and Soy could be a player as well. Will be interesting to see how the rankings play out from here.

I'm with ya. Really like Kossila and think he's going to make it on the Ducks before a lot of highly touted guys.

Pettersson because...uhh..we know how to draft defenseman.

We definitely have a lot of prospects that are all good choices in this slot.

I`m a bit down on Noesen/Kerdiles right now tbh, until they prove me otherwise. Kerdiles is already 22, time goes by fast

Currently i like the potential of Terry, Steel and Kase in that order.
Troy Terry was good when i saw him, he`s still only 18 and has reportedly grown taller (i think that was obvious in the spring (was it Frozen Four?) when i saw him play). He has some skill. He has ways to go but there are not much reasons to doubt him, therefor i will go with him now.

PS
Who is Hicks?

I'm a little surprised Noesen is getting so much more love then Kerdiles. I think they're definitely in a similar category, but with the versatility of Kerdiles (C and W), it seems like he should be garnering an equal share of votes to Noesen. Maybe since he was injured to end last year he's getting devalued, but he still put up 5 more goals then Noesen in 15+ fewer games. Kerdiles was also employed as a shut down C to begin the season and eventually broke out offensively when deployed in a more offensive role (which makes his goal scoring a little more impressive).

Terry is a really good prospect, but he's got a few years before he makes any type of run at a roster spot. Noesen regressed a little bit last season. After lacerating his Achilles the previous season, he returned to post about a pt per game to finish out the regular season. Definitely would have liked that progression to continue and don't really know what contributed to his regression (coaching style, line, PP time). Kerdiles really started to heat up right before getting injured. I talked about him in a previous post, but when he was given more of an offensive role, he started putting up pts. He was on pace for 20+ goals, so he definitely remains in our top prospect grouping.

Kerdilles needs to stay on the wing. I was not impressed with him at center. He did breakout on the wing before his injury. I'm still betting that he becomes a good middle 9 forward in the NHL.

I do think he's dropped overall in our prospect pool tho. Mostly because our prospcet pool is getting deeper.
