This year's results:
Rank | Prospect | yearly change | overall change 1 | Theodore | +1 | +10 (since 2013)
2 | Ritchie | +1 | +2 (since 2014)
3 | Montour | +1 | +9 (since 2014)
4 | Larsson | +4 | +4 (since 2015)
5 | Jones |n/a|n/a
6 | Nattinen | +4 | +4 (since 2015)
7 | Steel |n/a|n/a
8 | Pettersson | +3 | +3 (since 2014)
9 | Sorensen | +6 | +4 (since 2013)
10 | Kossila |n/a|n/a
11 | Welinski | +6 | +9 (since 2011)

13 | Noesen | -7 | -4 (since 2013)
14 | Terry | +2 | +2 (since 2015)
15 | Kase | -1 | +5 (since 2014)
16 | Roy | -3 | +1 (since 2012)
17 | Sideroff | +4 | +4 (since 2015)
18 | Besse |0| +5 (since 2014)

Each poll will be open for 48 hours. If it's not close after 24 hours, I'll call it. If it is, it'll go the full 48. In the event of a tie after 48 hours, a 24-hour runoff will be held. The winner will get the open spot; the loser will go back into the pool, not get the next-lowest rank. The poll will go up to #25. Players are in the poll on the basis of HF's prospect criteria. Essentially, skaters with less than 65 games before the season of their 24th birthday, or goalies with less than 45 games before the season of their 24th birthday, are considered prospects. There are some nuances with respect to older-signed players, which I believe only applies to Garret Metcalf this year.

Vote on players using whatever criteria you like. This isn't the readiness poll or the talent poll or the most-likely-to-be-best poll, it's just a survey of who we as Duck fans like.

I picked Kopacka because his name is really close to a LEGO Bionicle toy I used to own that was supposed to control ice.

So I thought that was cool.

Thompson.

Dude is a shutdown defenseman so wont stand out with flashy numbers.
He just won the NCAA championship and was an important player for UND blueline.

By the way he was the guy who, if one day older, would have to be drafted in 2014. He is only 3 months older than Ritchie, for example. Still only 20

Why is mayority picking Gates over Thompson, is beyond me, no offense to Gates but he has much more flaws and unclear ceiling at this point.

Yeah, I don't get Thompson deal. He's supposed to be a two-way defender but he doesn't seem to be particulary good in either aspects.

I first saw Gates play at the U16 level a couple years back. The rink was absolutely packed with scouts and onlookers wanting to catch a highly anticipated matchup between an electric scoring forward named Travis Konency, and an incredibly talented underage dman named Sean Day.

Both of them had tremendous games and were the best two on the ice, but I came away incredibly impressed two other players, one big forward from each side who both looked like they had pro written all over them.

Gates was one, a big strong center with a playmaker's touch, and a noticeable maturity to his game that made him a force from start to finish. The other was Konecny's linemate Lawson Crouse, who was a pretty darn impressive physical presence at that level as I'm sure you can imagine.

Because Thompson is also kind of soft for a shutdown defenseman.

The days of Bryan Allens in the NHL are gone. Dunkan Keith can shut opposition down quite well without being big or particularly physical.

Thompson definitely needs to work on his strenght to excell at the next level but that is fairly easy to do. And Thompson is still 20 (21 next month though), he is still growing into his body

Heusy, thanks for your comment. I also read somewhere that he was quite good before his big injury, however Gates didn`t had a particurarly great season last year. It was his first year only so it`s certain his role on the team will only grow and increase. But at this point he have quite a lot to prove.

I'm not calling him soft because of size or ability to fight. I'm saying that he wilts under physical pressure.

I believe he can improve that by improving his strenght. It`s a guess and a hope yes, but that is very often a deal with younger players. And he is not flawless, but i am a strong believer he should be in our top20 prospects list, he has showed it, imo.

We will be able to see how he does against stronger oppositions in the physical Pacific division in the AHL.

Byran Allen wasn't always 36 years old. And Duncan Keith is just shy of being a generational talent. He's not a great example of how a player typically succeeds at his position.

I can agree to that.
But i still think Thompson can succeed in the NHL in the future. How much remains to be seen but all the other prospects are too unproven for me
