Zborovsky +17 after 9 games!

No longer #1 in the WHL in plus/minus...but is #2. The #1 guy (+19) is his D linemate...Chase Harrison...who has played 3 more games than Zboro.

Check this out:

The Top 3 in WHL +/- are all Regina Pats.
5 of the Top 6 are Regina Pats.
6 of the Top 10 are Regina Pats.

Regina players own +/- in the WHL this year.

Gettinger had a goal. Still a poor start for him but he's at least potting some goals now.

Fontaine continued his hot start with an assist. He also won 12/17 face-offs; I don't have his overall numbers but he's doing great every game.

Gropp and Zborovskiy played head to head. Neither recorded a point. EDIT: Zborovskiy did pick up an assist at the end.

Regina is good as hell this year, so I'm sure that doesn't hurt. But Zboro is also contributing more offensively this year than last year. He is almost PPG....much better than last year.

He did start with 6 points in 7 games and 8 in 11 last season before cooling down substantially.

paging through NHL Guide (2017 Official NHL Guide and Record Book)
and in prospects are they still list Mikhail Pashnin, and as NYR property.
I believe rights retention may be based on the rules at the time player was drafted

he's 27 now, with 8 + KHL seasons,
i dont expect him to come over,
but it reminded how he made quite the impression at a couple prospect camps with his physical play

Hey Ranger fans.

What's the current view on Shestyorkin? If he were to come over today do you think he would be able to back up Lundqvist?

Most likely yes, but Raanta is a good back up goalie in his own right. It it were up to me, Shestyorkin would be starting in the AHL playing 55-60 games a year and facing 30 shots a night rather than play 15-20 in the NHL.

With Skjei, Buchnevich, and Vesey technically graduating soon, Shestyorkin is probably our best prospect in any position.

He's a top 5 goalie prospect in the world, so yes. He's signed until 2019 (i think) though so he's not coming over before that.

I absolutely love that Igor can't come over until then, he'll be 23-24 and he'll be developed into a more experienced goalie. Coming from a winning team he's currently on with SKA. It will able him to improve his poise to a high level. KHL is just a notch below the NHL, he'll be a great player one day. And I'm not saying this because how dominate the team is compared to the rest of the KHL, so his stats of course are going to be god-like, but being around the best players will improve his confidence and growth.

Shestyorkin is the best goalie prospect on the Rangers since Lundy and people here like Huska more.

When he comes over, he'll be the heir apparent to Henrik. It will be another 3 maybe 4 years out.

Nothing wrong with him starring for the best team in the KHL for a few years.

Speaking of goaltending, Benny Allaire isn't too far from a couple of other Ranger goalies. They'll get a long term look too.

The Rangers want a goalie factory and use them as trade chips later.

Possible top 5 goalie prospect, definitely top 10. Raanta's a pretty good back up, I think it would be very close. I think he could play in the NHL and wouldn't be out of place as a back up. In a few years, he should be the Rangers best goalie, as Hank declines and Shestyorkin keeps improving. He might even be the starter when he comes over, which we assume is after his contract ends in 2019, maybe even 2018.

As for his style of play, similar to Jonathan Quick or Semyon Varlamov. If he can learn to position himself better and not rely so much on athleticism, maybe Lundqvist could be a good comparable. He says his favorite goalie was Hank.

We better hope not. Quick isn't that good of a good goalie, and I really hope Shesty can be much more positionally sound when he comes over.

He has the same career playoff SV % as Hank, and he has two Cups.

I'm not about to say Shestyorkin is the second coming of Hasek or anything like that. If we get a top 5-10 goalie in the league, we should be happy with that. Thats what Quick and Varlamov are. Top 10 goalies in the NHL. If he can really improve in the areas he struggles, maybe he can become more well rounded like Lundqvist did and become one of the best goalies in the league.

He also played in front of much better teams and defenses than Hank during both of his Cup runs. It's not really comparable.

While it's nice to have depth in the system, and being a numbers game you need a few to get one to pan out...but there is very little value in trading goalies. We've seen it time and time again. Have a goalie factory for finding your next great goalie...don't plan on selling them at a profit.

Tell that to LA with Martin Jones and Ottawa with Robin Lehner. Both guys netted mid-1st round picks.

For the midround picks being spent to draft them, if you get two that hit big, you can trade one for a bluechip prospect in another position.
