I'm pretty sure Gibbons was asking the home plate umpire to ask for help from the third base ump.

Then Joe West came in and it was clear he told Gibbons to challenge the call (which he can't).

So not only did these clowns screw up the original call, they didn't even know it wasn't challengeable.

Plus, there was no reason for the home plate ump not to ask for help. He clearly didn't see the play.

pretty sure that would be protestable anyway. Fair/foul is a judgement call, and if it's not challenge able then there were no rules misused by the umpires.

The umps were incompetent on one call. A single that should have been a foul ball.

It was Doubront that then got crushed by the next three hitters.

Travis hurt his shoulder swinging at a pitch and this inning there was a runner on 1st and Howard hit a ball off his leg that went fair down 3rd base. It was ruled a ball fair ball.

3 straight hits later and the Phillies have the lead.
