Voting will close next Sunday, April 19th at 11:59 EST

Florida Panthers Pimping

James Neal for Hart Trophy (and 1st team all star)

Neal finished the season on a 20 game point streak and was the leading goal scorer and point getter in the league. His 10 game winning goals led the HFNHL too. What more is there to say?

Tomas Plekanec for James Selke (and 1st team all star)

Plekanec was a +13 for the Panthers this year and had a near 55% face-off percentage. His 93 points put him 5th in the entire HFNHL in points scored.

Daniel Alfredsson for Mark Messier Award

His final season in the HFNHL, Alfie proved to be a terrific leader for the Panthers, guiding them to another 100 point season and a 3rd place finish in the division. What a better way to send the fantastic captain and leader off into the sunset.

Brock Otten for Steve Wright Trophy

Coming off back to back HFNHL Championships, Otten continues to be the epitome of consistency in the HFNHL. Last year he was the only GM to win back to back titles. Could he be the first to three peat? The Panthers may just be the HFNHL's first dynasty.

Pimp :wild out!

Steve Wright Memorial Trophy
The Wild is one of the most cost efficient teams in the HFNHL. 7th in the league while 14th cheapest total salary committed. It also looks like, with bonuses, the team has made a profit of ~$16,000,000 from last season.

And next year will be much the same, with the entire core all set with manageable salaries and solid prospects on their way.

Calder Memorial Trophy (top rookie, regular season)
Jonas Brodin is a defensive beast. While he only scored 19 points, he played in all 82 games and led the Wild in ice time. Not only that, he is third in the league in takeaways, 6th in block shots, and 15th in total minutes played (25.99) making him one of the top defensive defensemen in the league.

Not bad for a rookie.

Jack Adams Trophy (best coach)
Team overall is 69, on the middle level of the league, but is at 7th overall in the league. Head Coach Claude Noel has done quite well with the mostly solid Wild team that lacks superstar punch outside of Anze Kopitar.

Of note, the Calder voting has been updated with the addition of Braden Holtby in LA. I forgot he was still a rookie. If you voted for him (as other) or weren't aware of his eligibility, you can change your vote.

Pimping

Andrej Sekera for NORRIS/1st Team All Star. 75 points for a defenseman, good for 2nd in the HFNHL. More impressive when you consider he pkayed for a non-playoff team.

Jeff Skinner for First Team All-Star, 89 points, along with Sekera got the Flames within 3 points of a playoff spot before the Flames faded in the kast three games.

Tyler Seguin Lady Byng

Horrible finishing teams shouldn't be pimping anyone but..... in light of such a disappointing season there is cause for hope.

Tyler Seguin was a point a game player this year scoring 37 of the Senators pathetic 187 goals(4th lowest in the league) accounting for a league high 19.79% of the teams goals.

Tyler Seguin:

Lead the league in game tying goals with 7

5th in the league with 19 power play goals

13th in power play points with 42

Scored 5 game winners

Played 21:15 mins a game

Only assessed 36 minuts in penalties

Granted other players scored more goals and amassed more points lets pause for a second and envision this Senators season without Tyler Seguin and Ottawa's record might have resembled that of the NHL expansion Senators first season which was the worst in NHL history.

I can't say Seguin is a Hart canidate but please consider himm for the Lady Byng Trophy.

The Coyotes couldn't win an award if we created 100 new awards.

But Steve Mason deserves some serious consideration..

2.17 GAA, 5 Shutouts, .928 SV % 27-20 record on a team that didn't even get close to the playoffs!!

If you're looking at a goaltender strictly with the best performance and compare that goaltender to the achievements of his team, Mason is far and above a top contender here. EVERYONE ahead of Mason played for contending teams that are stacked in comparison to Arizona's line-up.
