I removed Pateryn, I wouldn't have counted him to begin with but the one thing with him being 25 I wouldn't have counted against him since he played in the NCAA for 4 years so in the past when I covered the Habs for HF, we would give the older NCAA players a little more time. But since he was on the team at the end of the year and isn't likely to be sent back I would have counted him as graduated had I started this from day 1.

I'll just add 2 names for the next poll tonight.

Maybe because we believe that most of them don't stand a chance to play in the NHL one day? Pateryn will be an NHL'er.

Bozon = he might play in the ECHL this year.

Reway= not even sure he will ever come in NA again. PP specialist.

Lehkonen= Will he ever weight 160 pds??? I like him but NHL is still very far for him...

Vejdemo= Anyone know that guy outside of Timmins 2 weeks ago? NHL is still a dream for him

Fucale= Looking him play right now, he might one day become a good backup but slim chance for him to become a starter.

Pateryn. Add Koberstein.

Pateryn
Fucale
Gregoire
Lehkonen
My money is all these guys make the NHL before Pateryn did, they are all more talented than Pateryn, there is no denying that. You just gave me worst case scenario for all them players!....Reway is best junior player out of Slovakia, Fucale will be in NHL by the time he's 23, like him or not, he's got an outstanding resume, will he become a starter though is up to him. Lekhonen is a top 3 junior player out of Finland, who cares if he weighs 165Lbs (for now), Rebiero is the same weight and last time I checked he's still in NHL. Vejdemo is making the Swedish U20 team and the reason why you haven't heard from him was due to his injury last year, doesn't mean he's no good because you haven't heard of him, did you hear of Gallagher before we drafted him in the 5th round??....and Gallagher is in Canada, not half a world away in Sweden!
Bozon was a prolific goal scorer in the Dub, I think you'll be presently surprised when he starts lighting it up in St-John's...ECHL?.....no freggin way
I'm happy with Pateryn but no way should he be a higher ranked prospect than them guys, the potential for them is quite higher than Pateryn's potential

don't trust Fucale at all. Don't see a future starter there. Vejdemo-reway are next. I go Vejdemo, just cause Timmins was so giggly happy to get him. Plus his name sounds awesome !

That is analysis my friends. You're welcome

I wouldn't count guys getting to the NHL quicker against Pateryn since he took the long route. Not saying others won't be better or not.

I think there are legit concerns about Reway's future with us and how his game translates, I like him a lot though.

Fucale could be in the NHL, we'll have to see how much improvement he makes on his rebound control and glove hand.

Lehkonen being so skinny is a legit cause for concern, I could see him having a big year though now that he's said to be 100% healthy.

Vejdemo still has to make the U-20 team, getting invited to the Lake Placid tournament is a good sign though. Even though I haven't seen him play a full game, he's the guy I am going with for this poll. looks to have that mix of size and skill.

Bozon I really liked the one game he played in the AHL, so I think he plays in the AHL next year if we don't add any more roster players. But some think he will play in the ECHL next year, so it's not that far fetched.

Morning Fellas,

Just woke up in a fantastic mood and figured I'd post a future lineup if no changes are made. When it's drawn out things really aren't as bleek as we make it out to be, in fact I would say it's a great mix and a future contender, I understand that some prospects bust, just take a look and let me know what you think.

Cheers

Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Gallagher

Hudon - McCarron - Scherbak

Andrighetto/Reway - Vejdemo - Kassian

De La Rose - Gregoire - Smith Pelly

Beaulieu - Subban

Juulsen - Petry

Tinordi - Lernout

Price

Fucale
If everyone develop correctly, I think I would switch Galchenyuk and McCarron. But both possibility would look great.

Wow.....majority of people here think that our #6-7 defenseman is our #8 best prospect??
He's 25yrs old and just making the NHL and will never be better than a bottom pairing D or spare
Fucale, Reway, Lekhonen, Vejdemo, Bozon....are all prospects who's upside are much higher than Pateryn's, actually all those guys have or will represent their countries in the U20 Worlds (except Bozon)
It's as though some people are voting most NHL ready instead of most talented. I like the guy, but #8 is a bit high

I don't think we can say for certain that Pateryn's ceiling is that of a bottom pairing dman. I think we'll be pretty sure after next season. This season he will try solidify .playing in the d zone and getting the puck up to the forwards at the NHL level. Next season we might see him start to become more of a factor in the offensive zone. He's got a good shot and is a good stick handler.

His all around game reminds of a Beauchemin type player. Not counting on it, but let's see where he takes his game to.

Beauchemin's career high at the AHL level was 9 goals and 36 points in 77 games, at the age of 23, when he was 24 he had 30 points in 72 games, then he made the NHL at 25 (and had the best offensive season of his career, posting 36 points in 72 games).

Pateryn, at the age of 23 had 34 points in 68 games, including 15 goals. At 24 he dropped to 15 points in 53 games, while playing 17 pointless games at the NHL level. It will be interesting to see what he does this year as a 25 year old. Like I said, I expect him to focus on his defensive game. I just hope he gets a regular shift in at least about 60 games.

Yet, Gallagher scores 41 goals in the WHL as a 18yo. He may have been drafted late 'cause of size.. Vejdemo was still playing at the U20 level whereas Wennberg was playing versus men in his draft year

Did you know about Gallagher prior to us drafting him??
Unless you live out west, you probably didn't and Vejdemo lost a year of development because of his injury so he obviously didn't have a chance to make his mark on his own status....my point is I believe this Vejdemo kid has more upside then Pateryn so I got him ranked higher, again, this is just my opinion

No, I did not know about Gallagher prior to the draft.. but then, I also don't watch these kids play and I'm mostly reading about them around here. Yet, when Gallagher was drafted, I was surprised to notice his really great stats and wondered why he was drafted sooooooo late. When the first reports about him started coming in, I liked everything about Gallagher (feisty, goalscorer, training well, etc.)

While some people seem amazed about Vejdemo, I just can't see how great he might be. I feel like the U20 is far inferior to the CHL leagues and most highly touted swedish kids that have been drafted lately were already playing a league above Vejdemo prior to the draft (and even the year before): see De La Rose, Wennberg, Collberg, etc. Maybe I'll be wrong but I have my doubts for now...

Anyways, I get what you're saying and I may feel the same about Pateryn. While Montreal has scratched him off the poll, I felt like he also didn't deserve to be around as his spot was kinda guaranteed on the Habs roster for next year. So, yeah, he kinda graduated and I felt it absurd to vote for him. Yet, of all players in this poll since the first one, he was the closest to make the NHL. Does he have high upside though? Maybe not, as you said.

Does Vejdemo has higher upside than Pateryn? Maybe but he has yet to play in tougher leagues and cross overseas.
