We lost our 2015 1st rounder in the Marty St Louis trade with Tampa Bay. We then also received a second-round pick from Tampa Bay in the Ryan Callahan trade as he re-signed with Tampa Bay for the 2014–15 NHL season. We then also lost our 7th round pick in the same trade.. We however regained the 7th round pick by dealing the rights to Daniel Walcott back to Tampa Bay We lost our 2nd round pick in the trade for Keith Yandle We lost our 2015 5th rounder in the trade with Vancouver that brought us Rafael Diaz

I'm not saying I'd do it if I were Sather. I'm not saying this is anything other than a crazy NHL '95 EA sports deal that a 10 year old makes, BUT...

For the sake of discussion, would anybody support offering Vlad Tarasenko an offer sheet of say, the $9.13m it would take to trigger the max compensation (4 first rounders! "SATHER IS RUNNING OUT OF FUTURES TO SACRIFICE!"), and therefore give St. Louis a wee bit of incentive to let him walk.

This would require some major roster surgery. Either:

We trade Nash.
Downside: we replace one star with another. Granted, Tarasenko is younger with a brighter future, but how bad would that be if we acquired him and he went in the tank during the playoffs? The point should be to pair Nash with another, equally dangerous threat.

We let Stepan and Hagelin walk.
Downside: Remember that time we traded depth for Nash so he could dominate next to Gabby, but then Gabby became a shell of himself and we had to unload him for depth? Yeah. I don't think that would happen but...

We let Hagelin walk, then trade $6m-$7m worth of salary, including Klein, Talbot, and Yandle.
Downside: What if McIlrath, Skjei, and/or Lindberg aren't ready to produce?

That said, who wouldn't love to see Nash and Tarasenko F'ing up opposing D? I would share a plate of Buffalo wings while naked in a bath tub with Ken Hitchcock to make that happen.

Any thoughts/counters to these proposals?

The Rangers can't send an offer sheet to anyone, they don't have their 2016 1st rounder.

We don't have a first round pick in 2016 (or 2017 if we don't make the playoffs). This scenario therefore is null and void. It also isn't necessary if we just draft him instead of McIlrath :deadhorse: :naughty:

1. Retool the D by trading Klein and adding a more pure 'shot suppressing RHD'
2. Add a right-handed forward that shoots first and asks questions later
3. Trade Talbot in option 1 to get said player, or to recoup draft picks

End off-season.

I believe they can offer up to $3,652,659 (no first round pick) or above $7,305,316 (multiple first round picks). For multiple firsts, they have to produce them in 2 of 3 or 4 of 5 seasons, I think.

Alone, he's probably worth a 2nd and a NHL ready forward (Think M. Foligno).

With Klein, he's worth a good RHD and a pick.

With Hagelin, he's worth a proven NHL Forward, a 2nd, and a prospect.

My $0.02

He's certainly not worth a first, but I don't want to open that can of worms again.

If a deal of Talbot for Foligno and 31 is on the table, I cant see how the Rangers can turn that down. Foligno is the type of guy they need to be looking to add. Even if it meant adding a 4th to get it done, I think I'd be on board for the deal. Talbot + 4th for Foligno and 31?

100% agree about finding a way to improve the shot suppression of the defense. Question is, who's affordable and available that fits that mold?

I'm not too concerned with faceoffs but we suck at them too much. I've toyed around with the idea of moving Hayes to wing and acquiring a 3C, but I really want Hayes at center.

100% agree. His faceoffs are atrocious, but later in the season when he really took off, he was so dominant in the middle and seemed to have his best games at Center. The prospect of having a 6'5 Center with scoring and playmaking ability is just too good to pass up. He honestly reminds me of Getzlaf as a rookie, and their high production at low TOI is eerily similar comparing their rookie years. He doesn't have Getz's nastiness or faceoff ability though.

Hopefully he works with a skills coach on the FOs, hardcore. Like...every day lol. I think that will come with time, though. He barely played any center in college.

Lot of similarities with Brian Boyle, who also struggled with faceoffs early in his career.

Miller isn't that bad on face-offs, although he doesn't play center. He still takes some. He's 48.7% for his career and thats as a very young player in the NHL. I expect that number to improve as he gets older. He can probably get to 52 or 53%.
