We are really close to have almost the same team on this year WC we had last year in Sochi.

Kopitar need miracle now to reach PO and I personally have no doubt that he will play for our NT this year if Kings will be eliminated.

Friendly matches are going well so far but i wish for harder opponents. Game vs Germany will be interesting and Austria as always but as i said, game or two against Cze or Svk would be great.

Kopitar already joined our NT today, so he will be able to practise with teammates for at least 10 days before first match in Ostrava.

Jan Urbas plays for Västerås, not Västerå ;)

Look like a good team, hopefully Slovenia avoids relegation this year!

the vibe just before the championship here in slovenia is optimistic, sometimes almost frenetic. although players, coach and media talk mostly about staying in the elite, it's clear that good games and 1/4finals in sochi 2014 made the fans hungrier for more - but not in a demanding way - just wishing well and hoping for another fantastic story. this generation is the best in the history of slovenian hockey, but it's impossible to tell where their zenith is. as the team is complete, with kopitar and mursak leading the way, we all hope for something special. gl to risi & gl to all!

I just wanted to stop here and wish you guys good luck, you were clearly the better team for 2 periods, and I know that it really is painful to lose like this. I can´t even enjoy our win because of the fact that we played like total trash for 2 periods.

Anyway, thanks for the game and once more, I wish you good luck.

There's still a good chance, just need a win with Norway and you guys should be fine. You simply don't deserve to play in Div I yet again. Best of luck.

Kind of true. Wish we could expand with two teams or so.. Norway or Denmark dropping doesn't sound like needed thing neither. They arent bad at all, specially when they have the NHL guys.

Good luck Slovenia, may the zebras in some game work your way to make the weak call up. I'm glad to see one new country making legit teams for WC.

I am also pro-expansion, the last time they added teams was in 1998.

I mean, Slovenians are oscillating between Div A and elite since forever. AFAIK they got relegated every single time they'd played the WC. It's about time for someone else to "have fun" with Japanese, Poles, Britons down there. As I've said, Slovenians just don't deserve it, especially playing like this.

I share the sentiment of the last posters. I genuinely believe current sixteen elite teams actually are the sixteen best hockey nations in the world. Shame that we have to get rid of two them even for a year.

No, really there are nothing wrong with Slovenia, Austria or Latvia to be replaced by any other team from I-st division. And I mean it. By any team. Because all the point of having 16 teams in WHC is to promote hockey in lesser hockey countries. We haven't got 16 competitive teams, we barely have 8 such teams. Any team that's worth to be in WHC have almost nonexistent chance of losing its place in elite division. If you can't be at least seventh team in the group, you aren't deserve to be here. Even if you are better than team that would replace you.
