North Korea and Turkey should battle for promotion here. Bosnia and Georgia are going to be in last place, and though Georgia is in their third consecutive tournament while Bosnia just came back after a 7 year hiatus, it will probably be a close match.

I am curious to see what kind of team Ukraine is going to bring. I hope that all the best players will come.

Tough to predict "winners" and "loser" in 1A group. I would say Italy and Kazakhstan go up and down...I do not know, very hard to say.

And 1B group; Croatia big favourites to go to 1A. Everything else would be surprise I think. And going to 2A group...Estonia maybe.

Longshot here, but are there any stream available? I've heard a lot of DPR Korea's style of play and I would love to see it live!

Hockey situation in Ukraine is not good, so we can expect many changes compared to championship in Goyang, e.g. Oleksandr Materukhin will be absent. He had four goals and three assists in five games in the last championship. In Euro Ice Hockey Challenge in February played only seven players who were on the last World Championships Division I.

Kazakhstan is usually a big favorite to win, but this year's team looks weaker than ever, a good showing by some of the traditionally weaker teams could be enough to keep Kazakhstan in D1 for another year.

It doesn't seem like it, but if one does emerge the IIHF has been pretty good about posting them on the tournament page.

Andrew Sarauer and Frank Banham received Hungarian citizenship and joined to Hungarians training camp. Banham played in 32 games in NHL (9G, 2A) and 304 games in AHL (89G, 99A).

The Turkey-Bosnia match had over 1500 spectators. For comparison, the other Division III games, except one, have had less than 100 people attend. Don't know what the Turks did to get so many people there, but its good to see so many interested in watching some hockey out there.

Banham is 39 years old.

Of course (He will be 40 years a few days before the tournament), but He had 19 goals and 27 assists in Székesfehérvár in this season. Banham is the second best scorer in his team - Andrew Sarauer is the first. Therefore, I think both should be serious reinforcements for the Hungarian team.

Huns are lacking sniper since Palkovics retired, so Banham, despite age, should help them.

Why is it tough? Kazakhstan and Italy have been 'elevator teams' for nearly a decade now. Is there any reason to assume something else will happen this year?

I read interview with Italian coach or GM at IIHF where they said that from now on they are going to use domestic players only (with few italos only). If true, I cant see them in top two with roster like that

Here it is http://www.iihf.com/home-of-hockey/news/news-singleview/?tx_ttnews[tt_news]=9224&cHash=21ebd7941428a82b57b04a2f932eec7f

That's interesting. If that's true, hats off to them. And, yup, it definitely opens doors for someone else to join the Elite next year. They've been heavily relying on North Americans, so in the short term the quality of their roster will drop substantially.

Kazakhstan has a couple key players injured and any players playing for Russian KHL teams aren't playing for the NT since then they'll be labeled as foreigners on Russian teams most notably Kolesnik, the top goalkeeper. Still we should be able win without too much trouble, but the team is weaker than usual.

This team may be interesting

I saw wide Kazakhstan team for the World Championships, but I didn't see Nikolai Antropov. Will he be play in tournament? I read also, that probably Vitali Kolesnik will not play in the championship.

Kolesnik is confirmed not coming, Antropov is questionable, doesn't seem to excited to come, plus he also has a 2 match suspension from last year, so he'll only be there for 3 of the games *should he be called up.

Edit: Antropov is confirmed not coming, maybe retiring.

I believe Division 3 is the only one without any kind of streaming. The IIHF provides streaming for Division 2 and the games of both groups of Division 1 are actually televised in several countries.
