I thought I'd start a thread for the 2014 Canucks summer camp invitees.

CURTIS VALK

Birthyear: 1993-02-08
Birthplace: Medicine Hat, AB, CAN
Age: 21
Position: C
Shoots: L
Height: 175 cm / 5'9"
Weight: 77 kg / 170 lbs

2012-13 Medicine Hat Tigers WHL 71 46g 45a 91p 54pim -6
2013-14 Medicine Hat Tigers WHL 72 47g 45a 92p 36pim 33

Valk has steadily made improvements and progressed in his WHL career, but his game really took off this season. Playing on a line with Hunter Shinkaruk, Valk has caught the eye of scouts to the tune of a 46 goal campaign.

He worked hard in the offseason and trained with NHLers Scott Hartnell and TJ Oshie to get stronger and faster, and the work has paid off. Should be a mid round selection by someone at this year’s draft.

Prediction: Late third to early fourth round

KLARC WILSON @wilson_oh9

Birthyear: 1993-04-01
Birthplace: Edmonton, AB, CAN
Age: 21
Position: RW
Shoots: R
Height: 185 cm / 6'1"
Weight: 93 kg / 211 lbs

2012-13 Edmonton Oil Kings WHL 40 5g 11a 16p 55pim +2
2012-13 Prince George Cougars WHL 31 5g 5a 10p 36 pim -10
2013-14 Prince George Cougars WHL 72 27g 33a 60p 95pim -8

Edmonton Oil Kings fans remember Klarc Wilson quite well.

The exceptionally popular forward was as tough as they come. Never one to back down from an opponent and always one to have his teammates’ backs, he brought the Rexall Place faithful to their feet more than once after KOing another unlucky sparring partner.

What Oil Kings fans might not remember, however, is Wilson showing up in the scoring summary more often than the sin bin.

This guy should be popular :)

I can't deal with the spelling of his name though.

What's the setup here? ie how does this work and who/what status players are we looking at?

Just posting a little bit of info of prospects who've been invited to this years summer prospect camp. I will try to add prospects as they're confirmed to be invited.

TROY STECHER

Birthyear: 1994-04-07
Birthplace: Richmond, BC, CAN
Age: 20
Position: D
Shoots: R
Height: 178 cm / 5'10"
Weight: 81 kg / 179 lbs

2012-13 Penticton Vees BCHL 52gp 8g 39a 47p 40pim
2013-14 Univ. of North Dakota NCAA 42gp 2g 9a 11p 14pim +9

“Troy is a competitor who plays hard on the puck,†says Harbinson. “For a d-man he’s not the biggest guy on the ice (the team’s website lists him at a generous 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds) but is very strong positionally and his will to win puck battles is very high. There are few times when the puck ends up in the corner that Troy doesn’t come out with it. He was an integral part of us winning a national championship and it was a well-deserved credit that he was selected the top D-man at the RBC.â€

"Already a good skater, Stecher is also blessed with good vision on the ice. And Harbinson believes that as he gets physically stronger—which won’t be a problem given that’s he’s routinely in the gym working out—his shot will also improve."

DANIEL CIAMPINI @dchamp1_7

Birthyear: 1990-11-05
Birthplace: Concord, ON, CAN
Age: 23
Nation: Canada
Position: F
Shoots: L
Height: 180 cm / 5'11"
Weight: 84 kg / 185 lbs

2011-12 Union College NCAA 15gp 3g 3a 6p 2pim +4
2012-13 Union College NCAA 36gp 11g 10a 21p 28pim +6
2013-14 Union College NCAA 41gp 23g 18a 41p 26pim +26

The Concord, Ontario native seems like a big goal scorer, which is always welcomed. Ciampini led his team in scoring last season (42 goals and 46 assists in 49 games), and is doing the same this year (22 goals and 36 assists and 37 games)

AUSTIN LOTZ @lotzy30

Birthyear: 1995-05-27
Birthplace: Winnipeg, MB, CAN
Age: 19
Nation: Canada
Position: G
Catches: L
Height: 185 cm / 6'1"
Weight: 91 kg / 201 lbs
Youth Team: Eastman MHA

2012-13 Everett Silvertips WHL 42 3.37 .907
2013-14 Everett Silvertips WHL 57 2.53 .905

Everett Silvertips goalie Austin Lotz may not top the list of draft eligible goalies this year, but he just might turn out to be one of the best. Lotz has come on this season for Everett and in many ways has carried his club. Lotz is a goalie with good size, he’s athletic, competitive and plays with confidence. What would his scouting report on himself be?

“I’m a pretty aggressive goalie,†he says of his game. “Pretty quick and have good reflexes.â€

Baillie?

Some guys i would target are:

Darby Llewellyn - A hard working two way player for the Kitchener Rangers, brings a high energy game, smart on all zones, but lacks some offensive tools. Produces offense with his hard work.
Andrew Mangiapane - under-rated as heck being a rookie in the OHL, smaller guy that is fearless and plays bigger than his size but is very talented. He plays with high energy and attacks the puck. Very smart at both ends of the ice and is gold in the shoot outs.
Zach Bratina - really thought he'd be drafted. He has good size, smart player that has some underrated offensive tools and was more gritty once he moved to North Bay in a trade.
Dexter Dancs - from North Van, good size, developing into a power forward. I know Redlinereport was super high on him. I think they had him ranked around the 2nd round or something. Worth an invite.

Other CHLers: Pius Suter, Stefan Leblanc OTT , Ryan Verbeek, David Tomasek.

Yeah. Crazy to me that list of players didn't get drafted.

Another battalion I like is Mcivor. Would be a good invite too.

Chris Wilkie? Wilkie is a fleet footed prospect who is up to top speed in a flash, controls the puck well and has a solid shot. So shifty on his feet, he can make a defender look foolish and thread the needle with a strong pass all in a split second. His effort levels are inconsistent but when he is on he can be a difference maker. (FC) Put up 36 points in 57 games as a 17 year old in the USHL, he was draft eligible this year. 5'11 and 180 pounds.

Evan Allen? Allen has pure goal scoring instincts and an elite shot, but also plays a relentless and high energy game away from the puck. Uses his size to his advantage as his low center of gravity allows him to roll off defenders leaning on him and is able to maintain the puck along the walls. (FC) He put up 6 points in 23 games and is also 5'10.

Chase Balisey? 22 years old, put up 37 points in 40 games in the NCAA. He's 5'11 and 181 pounds, drafted in 2010 but now a UFA.

Adam Rockwood is 18 years old playing in the BCHL, he's 5'10 and 174 pounds. Put up 74 points in 57 games.
