Da Big Apple
Petry would cost too much cause Oil needs him.

If ya want an el cheapo special to cannon for PP, whats'is name from the bottom of Jets probably could be had reasonably.

------------

McIlrath should be bought up, Stay at home def D. Also Connor Allen, who can play 3LD and squeeze a few extra minutes at 2RD.

Trade
Girardi to Leafs
Moore in package or for highest offer.
Stepan -- if not traded, too expensive for later, if traded, gets more now.

Maybe also Brassard.
Fill in w/kids.
Growing pains
fine well before po's.

we MUST standardize our lines.
There is too much experimenting. It's nice to be prepared in case of injuries, but at this juncture we should first get things stable. Then you have a couple of games you're up by a couple, you can experiment a shift here, a shift there.

But the kids especially who are trying to do the right things are not helped by adjusting on the fly to new linemates. That's not hard to understand.

AV, please listen, and yield to the logic of the synergy.
I would rather others say I am right now, then I have to say it later.

It is not impossible for other combos to work, but, for now:
power line Kreider - Hayes [who are familiar as teammates already] + Nash/Haggerty
speed line: Duclair - Miller - Hagelin (he has some exp. and can handle the off wing)
other line Malone Brassard - MSL
checking line Glass - Moore - Stempniak
Zuc alternates throughout lineup replacing 1 of Ws

See about a guy like Schiefle from Jets.

That center depth is amazingly worse then what we have currently. No thought given - all fantasy.

Oils suck with or without Petry, but I doubt they'd move him, he might be someone to look into as a uFA though.

Land of no calls..
The Oilers need Petry so bad that he was a healthy scratch last night?

He was a pretty decent player at one point, but his play has taken a noticeable downward turn. So the question is whether or not that was because the team as a whole was awful, or because he peaked early and then regressed. He also makes $3M this year and will be a UFA in July.

Boyle will return and hopefully solidify the defense. I don't think adding Petry is the kind of move the team would make.

in all seriousness, I'd like to see John Moore do something productive other than "skate like Mcdonagh"

Oilers' management is dumb AF, we could probably get Petry for Fast and a pick or something, with salary retained, even. Look what they moved Smid for.

Trading for Petry would actually be a really solid pickup. I don't know a lot about him. What side does he play? If he can play both, he could fill in for Boyle now and possibly push Moore out when Boyle gets back.

Right side, skinny, not a lot of strength but a good skating 3rd pair D that shouldn't face top line competition.

Would be a stabilizing element with Boyle out, but I think the Rangers can kill two birds with one stone by trading JMoore for a reliable LD.

This way the team'll ice 5 reliable D with Boyle out, and 6 with him back, and potentially offset losing Staal as a free agent.

Candidates:

Brodie
Sbisa
Methot
Oduya

The cap is also an issue with making a trade for a defenseman. salary would have to go back the other way.

With Stepan and Boyle on LTIR for 6-8 weeks, the Rangers can offset 7.5M worth prorated for 6-8 weeks. Might be a squeeze, but they can fit it in.

Obviously banishing Hunwick and Kostka to the AHL buys another 1.2M.

The same posters that are panicking, making trade proposals that turn the whole roster over with new vets or allowing the kids to play....are the SAME posters who were jumping off the ledge at this time last year. And what was the result of last year? It is why I HATE this thread. I really just come on here looking for any news. But its the same nonsensical garbage over and over again. Its getting old.

I'm not saying we'll make a deep playoff run. But can we not dissolve this franchise after just 4 games? Can we wait 20 before we start proposing trades of everyone. It makes our board look pathetic and unintelligent.

Why are the Rangers making MORE changes to the team? I think it's fairly evident that they are dis-jointed because they don't feel comfortable knowing where everyone is going to be. Same thing happened at the beginning of last year
