Lakehead has released their upcoming schedule. It is easily the toughest schedule I remember them plaing. Hopefully they are recruiting well because this is going to be a long season if they didn't

Ottawa opens up on the road against RMC on October 4th. Still no word on the fate of Gee-Gees hockey for this season yet though so maybe OUA is jumping the gun

The schedule is really condensed this year - the season ends 1 week earlier than last year (Feb 8). Just looked at Lakehead's and Western's schedules and they both play 18 games before the Christmas break.

Some may recall the discussion about Lakehead's "soft" schedule last year due their doubleheaders in the crossovers. Well it's payback time this coming season - they have doubleheaders with the top 4 from the OUA East last year: Carleton, McGill, UQTR, and Queen's

Similar to 2012-13, actually.

3 games against Minnesota-Duluth, including 2 at home, is interesting.

It's actually no more condensed than previous years - the season starts a week earlier this year (OUA season opener was Oct 10 last year). Since the OUA has an extra playoff round, I assume this is all to accommodate the new CIS/SN Championship weekend schedule.

Kind of early for a schedule release? I don't think the AUS releases its schedule until July.

Actually this is right on time, as far as the OUA is concerned. Last year the sched was released even earlier on May 27. The year before was June 1.

In any event, this release isn't going to matter much if Ottawa officially drops out for the season due to the suspension - you'd think the OUA has a second sched without the Gee Gees ready to go if necessary.

Oh right. Forgot about the Gee Gees. Do they have a deadline to make a decision?

At this point now that the schedule is out, not really.

They never had any real "deadlines" per se, just an increased fine the longer they waited. Take it away Ottawa Citizen (from a month ago)...

http://ottawacitizen.com/sports/wait-for-u-of-o-hockey-decision-continues

"As of May 1, U of O had not yet indicated to Ontario University Athletics whether the Gee-Gees men’s hockey team would participate in its league in 2014-15.

One might have expected such a disclosure, if only because the OUA annual general meetings are scheduled for May 5-9, but it’s also entirely reasonable to say that such a decision will depend greatly on the results of the internal review, to say nothing of the impact of the police investigation.

The OUA meetings matter only in a financial sense. If any member team decided to withdraw now from the OUA men’s hockey league in 2014-15, it would face a fine of $500. (To avoid a fine, OUA members must announce their intentions to withdraw from specific sports a year ahead.) If the announcement of the withdrawal is made between May 9 and the release date of the 2014-15 OUA schedule, which in the case of men’s hockey is approximately June 1, the fine is $1,000. Any withdrawal after the release of the schedule would result in a fine of $3,000.

That, it could be said, would be the cost of business for U of O to complete its internal review of the men’s hockey program. Getting it right is the priority, not getting it done fast."

So at this point, they could decide any time before puck drop in the fall and the fine will still be $3,000. That said, there was a report last week in the Ottawa Metro (link: http://metronews.ca/news/ottawa/104...-next-year-in-case-the-program-is-reinstated/) that the team handed out practice schedules to players - in case they were going to play, so the players could build their classes around it - and that the internal review is expected “any moment now,†and once it’s done, it will be made “somewhat pulic.â€

The Athletic Department at UOttawa has to appease the "Dept. of Man-Hating Feminist" a.k.a "Dept. of Women's Studies." and are just waiting for the right time of the month to hold a vote. All this over something that has never been proven and was reported to administration (not reported to police) by a third party who based the accusations on the word of a friend who heard it from a friend. Don't anybody accuse me of being politically correct.

UPEI will play 3 home games outside of McLauchlan Arena this year, including the home opener against UNB which will be held at the Eastlink Centre.

Good. The Panthers sell out a lot of their games in the smaller McLauchlan arena which holds about 1100. During the playoffs they could probably get at least 3000 for their games if they were held at Eastlink Centre.

Laurier Posts Exhibition Schedule

FRI, SEP 19, 2014 @ WATERLOO

SUN, SEP 21, 2014 @ YORK

THU, OCT 9, 2014 @ MICHIGAN

FRI, OCT 10, 2014 @ FERRIS ST.

Laurier beat Ferris State a few years back (due primarily to strong goaltending). Since I started following, they have played a variety of teams, including Bowling Green, Mercyhurst, RIT, Ferris State, and Robert Morris, but Michigan would be the biggest name school they have played. A lot of their team has early and mid round NHL draft picks and guys from the US National Team program. This is a tough task to say the least.
