I don't know if this is the right place to start this thread but.... I was looking for some help regarding the OHL cup. My son is coming up from the states to play in the tournament. Saw some info regarding the teams that may be competing, but I wanted to know if anyone knows what the format is. I saw round-robin but does your team play only one game a day or more than one. Also it goes from the 12th to the 17th just trying to figure out travel and taking vacation. So with that being said when is the earliest that a schedule would come out. Any help would be great. Thanks.

20 teams, 4 divisions. The 12th, 13th ,14th,15th are division play. By the 16th and 17th it will have 8 teams only remaining. They are division winners and second place teams make up these 8. Last year on the first day of the OHL cup, only 8 teams played. In the following 3 days Teams will play 4 games if they werent scheduled for the first night. Only once during divisional play(first 4 days) Teams will play 2 games in a day. The 16th all teams that advance play 2 games if they keep winning. 17th is the final only.

Your welcome. I was curious is your son's club team coming up? or are they putting together a team of players from different teams?

Ditto.

Based on the past few years, I'm guessing it's going to be an all star team of sorts. Your insight is appreciated.

Thanks for your help. Looks like a pretty good event. Excited to see it.

It's a great tournament/event that I am sure you and your son will love. A chance to play against the best teams/prospects in Ontario. The arena it's held at (Hershey Center) is also very nice. Enjoy.

In regards to the schedule, it usually comes out once all Ontario leagues playoffs are finished, so usually around 5 days before the OHL Cup starts.

Made the trip with some buddies for the first time last year, we had a blast. Went to the Semi/Quarter saturday and were able to see a bunch of games. Thinking about turning it into a 2 day trip this year.

He is going to be playing for the Elite Hockey Group team. I know that he has played with and against some of the boys on the team. Should be fun. Looking forward to it. Might be camping out like a hockey groupie at the Hershey Centre. Back in 2004 we actually saw the Ice Dogs play Sudbury there. Mike Foligno was the coach of Sudbury at the time. We got introduced to him while he was coaching in Hershey. Hope Oakville is there know a couple boys on that team, looking forward to seeing them.

Oakville will be there, for sure. Im guessing u know Henley and Petawabano. The 2 of them have played really well this season. There isnt any powerhouse team in Ontario Id say, although Oakville is top tier with a few others, often times the games can be unpredictable, which is nice.

Yeah Troy and Cody are good players glad to hear they are doing well. Not only are they good players but they are great kids as well. Plus they have great parents to boot. Don't get to hear much about them down here in PA, so hopefully the OHL draft is good to them. March can't get here fast enough.

Im not sure that Cody Petawabano is eligible for the OHL draft? I think he is QMJHL property. I think he billets.

Elite Hockey had a very strong team last year, and could have really done some damage had a few of their players not left the early for their respective playoffs, so good to see them bring back the same outfit.

As Mapleleaf said, Oakville will definitely be there, so there will be some familiar faces for you.

Enjoy and thanks for the info.

Speaking of Elite Hockey, I know he's verbally committed to Harvard but does anyone expect that Jeremy Bracco will play in the OHL? I was very impressed with him last year.

Boy oh boy would it be a deliciously delightful treat if the Bracc Attack played for Elite Hockey again this year.

Thanks for the heads-up, Tigers! I reckon the Bracc Attack should look scintillating based on how well he looked at last years OHL Cup, and especially the Rebels.

Thank you kindly mapleleaf. Whatever game(s) you watch tonight, may you enjoy them immensely.

I didn't see Compuware on the invitee list. That's too bad. Probably one of the best defense prospects won't be seen.
