How cool is it to see players from Brentwood TN, Power Springs GA, and Arlington TX on the roster. 2 are huge longshots but it was inconceivable 15 years ago for players from this area to be in a NHL training camp

Exactly what I was thinking. Great sign that hockey is working down here.

Interesting looking over the training camp schedule this morning the amount of team building time spent away from Nashville this season. Taking advantage of the road heavy preseason schedule there are extended training sessions in Naples, FL between games at Florida and Tampa Bay and at the Naval Academy in Maryland between games at Washington and the Islanders.

A different twist from what they've done in the past using Fort Campbell AFB among other sites locally to do their team building exercises.

Glad to see Mike Moffat get an invite from the Preds. I'd certainly miss watching him play for the Kingston Frontenacss if he gets a pro contract. The Preds scouts must have been scouting Kingston pretty hard. It would be hard not to notice Moffat if they were watching for Vainonen. Moffat is a late bloomer but I think he's got the defensive package to at least play minor pro.

Some tweets from Cooper:

Trotz said he asked Seth Jones to try playing the left side this summer

Trotz said Rinne has been cleared to ramp it up. But was somewhat cryptic beyond that ...

Rinne was not on ice for informal skates today, at least the portion I was here for [Today]

https://twitter.com/joshuacooper

I also just noticed that there's a game against Florida at 5:00

Hellberg
Mazanec

I read that Barkov isn't participating in the rookie camp, but will be ready for training camp.

Usually with these rookie tournys you get messy neutral zone play due to unfamiliarity between line-mates, resulting in less goals. Certainly not the case here.

Any standouts from today's game?

FWIW, it was 3-2 Florida at the second intermission. Both teams changed goalies and the Predators lit up the Panthers rookie tender in camp on a tryout contract for 5 goals in the 3rd.

Hellberg started for the Preds and allowed 2 goals through a period and a half on 11 shots against. Mazanec relieved Hellberg in the 2nd allowing two goals against during in his time on 15 shots against.

Salomaki and Cehlin with 3 point nights (1 goal, 2 assists) and Forsberg scored a goal in both regulation and was the lone Preds scorer in the exhibition shootout at the end of the night.

Follow @rinkside on Twitter for good coverage of the games and some photos. She does a very good job covering the scrimmages!
