The best team won. The Canadian defence was good enough to handle the competition on this level, the goaltending was very solid and the offence was overwhelming & unmatched, probably unmatchable.

Congrats Canada! With such a short tournament, wasn't sure if the team could start clicking in time to get all the way through but the talent on the team this year was undeniable.

Can't believe they didn't give the all star goaltender to Dubnyk

Maybe they ignored stats because they felt like Dubynk had the best team playing in front of him and they thought that made his job easier than other goalies.

Who won the all star goaltender award anyway?

Just out of curiosity why was this game played so early? Davos really didn't have much turn around from their game yesterday

Dennis Endras, the one goaltender to beat Canada, suppose that makes sense.

Not entirely sure why, but it's always played at noon on new years eve

Not sure but for the past 3/4 years that I've been following the tournament closely, it always has started at 6AM ET. Maybe the finals being played on NYE every year, they don't want to do a primetime game because most people have plans in the evening.

Yeah, that works I guess. Not to take anything away from Endras but he had the greatest advantage of any goalie playing against Canada - he got Canada in their very first game in the tournament. When you throw together a bunch of guys who don't normally play together and then ask them to adapt to a common system in a very short time frame, it's understandable that there may be kinks to battle through and it's understandable that that team will likely not look as good against a team who has been playing together all year and has been playing their system well.

Spezza always has this dorky look on his face but it kind of makes him endearing. It's hard for me to dislike him.

Really happy for the guys. With no NHL right now, it's something that they can enjoy for the time being and I'm sure being winning an international hockey tournament isn't going to look bad on their hockey resume.

By the way, what kind of medals are those? It's not a very clear shot...but they look almost transparent.
