Another tanking year LOL

Glass houses, Alvaro. You blew up a perfectly good team when you arrived, and have been "rebuilding" (or "re-re-rebuilding") your entire tenure. The only reason it's borderline competitive this year is some quirks in the sim. This marks the first time Martin has ever seriously attempted to rebuild, and it shows in the poverty of his system. But you can't throw stones at the guy for making that call, and it seems to me he could have done worse in his moves.

Just sayin'.

Sigh. My success this season is as much a stroke of good fortune as yours, but you can't honestly say you expected your club to make the playoffs this year, never mind leading your division.

I never said you were a bad GM, just that the rebuild is hardly a short term process. Perhaps my memory fails me - didn't you take over for Claudio? That doesn't look like the team Claudio left behind him. Perhaps I'm missing someone in between... I certainly thought you'd been the GM for more than a year and a half, so I guess I must be.

In any event, this is the first time Martin has entered into a rebuild with Tampa, and he is one of the league's original GMs. So your comment is simply inaccurate and inappropriate.

And for the record, far better teams are missing the playoffs this year. Are you saying Rich, Nick and Matthew are bad GMs? Simply a silly argument.

The Lightning are one team where their performance this year is not a surprise: two lines and two blueliners don't make a contender, and you can't fill in the rest of the team if you don't have the depth and farm system to make deals. So it truly is time for them to rebuild. Why mock that?

That was your team at the end of your first season of trading. The Flyers had just lost Seabrook and Gleason to RFA offer sheets, the reason for Claudio's departure, so a couple of their better players were gone when you took over. The roster looked very different when you got it to what you posted at the end of that season though.

When I took the team Seabrook and Gleason wasn't there I remember very well....but I remember 2 or 3 first round in my prospect list ...that help me alot.

I think it is pretty rude to judge other GM in public and make a statement that he is bad or made a bad trade. The only reason a GM makes a trade is because they value players differently or the teams needs are different.
In my opinion, a GM is only successful when they win it all and there are very few GM who can say that they have been there.

I traded you Purcell, not Claudio, so I'm not sure how that was the team you inherited. I'm pretty sure that was the roster after a year of your butchering. Pretending that's what was left you is simply not true.

The Flyers had made the playoffs in the top 4 pretty much every year for something like 5 straight years. Your roster had Fisher, Modin, Zubrus, Kovalev, Hudler, Naslund, Roenick, Fedorov, A Kostisystn, Volvhenkov, Huet, Elliot, Halak, and many others, not mention the picks you landed for Seabrook and Gleason. Some vets past their prime to be sure, but the Flyers had been a perennial contender for almost a decade.

The next year the Flyers were the laughing stock of the year with a roster like you just posted.

You're fun to have around, Alvaro, always good for a laugh. But don't ever lose sight of the fact you are a punch line in most conversations :D

LOL. Huet had a great rating, which is what I needed. There is no shame in that trade, in particular I later parlayed him through other moves into Howard. Quite happy with him at $2.5M for the next few years and in the top 5 in goaltending in every categoty.

OMG. I'm comparing my resume with Alvaro...

God help me. Gold help all of us.

Okay, guys. The whole reason I called Alvaro out was because, like Hasnain, I'm tired of people slagging other GM's moves. The whole business with pttawa probaby has me a little oversensitive...

Anyway, I think the point has been made, so I'd suggest we move onto something more constructive than trash talk and revisionist histories.
