I think Deboer has a superiority complex like this team is just going to win no questions asked with the guys we have.

He's willing to let the vets make mistake after mistake and tank a season ( not saying we're gonna be terrible just making a point ) rather then letting the kids play and make mistakes but learn at the same time.

Volchenkov isn't gonna learn anything new or suddenly improve a ton... he is what he is at this point.

Defensively as far as the decisions go I think Stevens has a lot of influence. When Robinson ran the defense Larsson (until his injury) and Fayne played a lot. Not the case under Stevens.

We miss Larry a lot.

So let's see what Dumbeor has to say.

We've given up 3 goals in each game. Is he gonna say the goaltending was solid, and sit the Kremlin Kone? Or is he gonna blame the goaltending, and think everything is fine on defense?

Which one is it Pete?

Why does it have to be one or the other? It's only been two games. We're not starting off any worse than we did in 11-12, and that was with Kovalchuk and Parise and a 30-goal Clarkson.

I don't think Deboer makes the best decisions with his lineup, but he's proven he knows how to iron out kinks in his system and two games is way too soon (especially with such a different team) to get on his case about team play. If (...when...) things start going south, he'll adjust. He's done it time and time again and I doubt it'll be any different. For a coach who clings to a lot of older ideals, he's been pretty good about changing things around when he needs to.

Waaaay too many odd man rushes and breakaways, they're killing us. So tired of seeing these slugs pinching and getting caught up ice.

That's one of the things I really do worry about this year. Marty has done so much for the organization, but at some point they need to realize that what's best for the team is for Schneider to be the guy. I love Marty to death, but it's time.

I feel the same way. Never being able to see a save again like Marty made late in the 3rd almost brings me to tears. That's one of the things that's wrong with Marty. He lets in goals 2 and 3, but makes that stop. Most goalies who've ever played can't roll over and make a save that way he did tonight. They get in the robot butterfly position.

I really believe we win this game if Schneider was in net. Goals 2 and 3 don't happen.

I still think we'll see brilliance from Marty, but we can't be patient and let him ''Find his groove''. We need to do what's best for the team.

Lots of negativity around here ...
I really liked a lot of things from the team, especially in third and OT. They were flying. Forecheck was great at times. A bit more time to iron things out, and I'll be happy to roll sleepless into summer :yo:
2013 Devils opened up scoring season from kid named Damien. You couldn't make this one up.
Oh this will be one great season :D

He did have that save later and showed tremendous athleticism that no other goalie other than Hasek could probably ever do.

He let in two softies tonight though. He can't keep letting those in or it's time we go to Cory.

No you are right he had softies but he came up big in the end and he was good in the shootout. Should never go 5 shooters. Can't hang it on them.

I'm going glass half full. I see lots of potential here. This offense can really roll when it gels. D needs to improve but Larrsson will be fine so will Greene. Honestly I'd keep Harrold in an sit Volch right now. Harrold played well tonight.
