[FIELDSET="QUOTES TO NOTE"]

We’re a fast team. It was a lot of fun playing tonight.
If we’re being solid defensively, with all the speed and skill we have, it’ll be tough for opponents every night.
- Brandon Pirri

It’s a good feeling to get the first one out of the way, and get the win. Everyone wants to get the win in the first game.
From here, it’s just trying to get better every game and keep developing chemistry with my linemates and hopefully find the back of the net.
- Jimmy Vesey

There was no doubt that especially in the first 40 minutes that our quickness and speed was a factor both defensively and offensively.
The fact that we could roll four lines, I think that definitely helped us.
- Alain Vigneault

First 5 games to start the season are pretty tough. Just noticed that. Blues are believed to be the class of the West, right?

I will be happy with a nice showing and structure in the defensive zone. It will be a tough game this one but if we can show a bit of fine tuning on the team defense system, it'll be a good sign moving forward regardless of the result tonight.

Hopefully our boys play well so that the st louis fan community on hfboards are receptive to our trade proposals. The two points is gravy

I should have asked this in the post game thread after last game. But it seemed to me that we changed the way we played this game to go back to something closer to 13-14, particularly in the first two periods. I heard we got out-Corsied by 2 shots. I know the Islanders are weaker this year, but we have been dominated in Corsi by them the last 2 years. So 2 shots in not bad at all.

The game starts in 6 hours and Staal-Holden were already on the ice for 10 scoring chances against.

I think the team has been better in the neutral zone. Offensively and defensively.
