.Larry Regan:

...Was old to be a Rookie..27 or 28??..Tremendous stickhandling ability...Bruins let him go too early..Helped Maple Leafs turn the corner in 1959..Punch Imlach knew Larry Regan from Québec Aces...

Born with a club foot, young Ed was unable to run and play like other children. As a baby he wore a series of casts and braces on his leg to help straighten it. He credits his Aunt Nan as the woman who “made my career.” She took care of Ed during the first 2 years of his life and was instrumental in him receiving the necessary medical care to take care of his leg.

Ed Chadwick was born with a club foot, as was Ron Ellis. Two guys who overcame this condition played for the Leafs, within a few years of each other as well. Are there even two more in the history of the NHL?

Chadwick was later traded for Don Simmons in 61.

..Don Simmons balked at His demotion from the Bruins in November of 1960....Complained that trading Defensemen Stanley and Larry Hillman were the reason for Bruins demise..He also cited the outright Larry Regan givaway..Ed Chadwick`s career quickly declined when Bower arrived in Toronto..i think He barely played 5 awful games in Boston..never saw the NHL again

Weak group that year. the only players on that list that had great careers were Pilote & Vasko. Forgot that they were rookies at the same time. They were a great pairing for many years and were both key players on the 61 cup team. All the other rookies on that list had rather mediocre careers including Reagan.

1955-56 group featured 5 future HHOFers including two who were still junior eligible - H. Richard & Dick Duff plus Norm Ullman who missed being junior eligible by 5 days plus Glen Hall and John Bucyk.

1957-58 featured Frank Mahovlich and Bobby Hull.

The junior eligibles moved up a season changed the perceptions but the development of players was constant.

55-56 & 57-58 were unusual in the quality of the rookie crop.
