A Welland, Ontario native and an Ottawa 67s Draft pick (fourth round, 66th overall in the 2018 OHL Draft) Colby Ambrosio opted to go the USHL/NCAA route instead of playing in the OHL. Playing for the Tri-City Storm, Ambrosio put up 26 goals and 24 assists for 50 points in 48 games before this past season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The strong season sets him up nicely for the 2020 NHL Draft, as well as for moving up to college hockey where he is committed to playing for the Boston College Eagles next season.

In 2018-19, Ambrosio scored 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points in 57 games. He also played one playoff game for the Storm. Ambrosio represented Team Canada White at the 2018 Under-17 World Hockey Challenge. He recorded three assists in five tournament games. Ambrosio bounced around in his minor hockey development. In addition to playing for Welland, he also spent time with the Buffalo Jr. Sabres in 2017-18. In his midget season, he put up 36 goals and 33 assists for 69 points in 66 games for Buffalo. The previous year, he played his bantam hockey for the Oshawa Generals Select Under-15 squad.

He’s listed as 5’9 and is probably closer to 5’8, but I think we can just pump that up to 5’10, right guys?

Put him on Newhook's wing. (I know he's a center)

Solid pick. Fits the Avs mold of a good skater. Don't mind that he's undersized; he's skilled enough to overcome that.

Reminds me a lot of the Weiss pick two years ago. Undersized, NCAA-bound pure skill forward who is a big time project but has the potential to boom.

I don’t like taking too many sub 5’10 guys, but it sound like Ambrosio has all kinds of skating and skill. Hopefully he excels in the college ranks.

Gotta be honest, haven't seen him play and got a shitton of points on the powerplay. Not exactly a player I like when it comes to relying on so many man-advantage points. But hey, at this point of time in the fourth round I don't mind drafting a powerplay specialist.

I'm so happy that we can get the proper thread creators back
I hate you.

Watching the tape on him, it seems he's good at "hiding" himself on the ice. That and he's cocky AF in his goal celebrations.

He can really yap too... even get testy after the whistle. But he can’t dish or take a hit. He’s the toy dog that thinks he’s super tough. All bark!

He might grow into that eventually and I love the desire behind it. He’s gonna get drilled a few times if he ever makes the show.

At 2:15 in the video above he drills a guy. Looks to me like a guy who likes the physical game. Reminds me in those clips of a slower but more skilled Calvert.

Well call it what you want - he definitely laid the body.

He was in on the forecheck and hit a tiny defensemen from behind. It was a non-impactful play and something every player is told to do. That hit would be like a fly on the head of a player like Hedman.

Obviously. I'm not sure what you think I'm claiming.

Flies can be super annoying though. The perfect sort of guy to take Hedman off his game
