I feel the exact opposite. I much prefer the European system where players get to sign where they want. I really don't like the whole draft system. Way cooler to let people play where they actually want to play, builds true loyalty and increases passion. The whole salary capped franchise system is just so lame and only serves the owners making money off of it.I like Fox as a player but I don't like the precedent of refusing to sign with the team that drafted you.
I'm a Long Island kid who was at Cornell for three of the years that Fox was at Harvard. (For those who don't know, it's one of the biggest rivalries in college hockey, and the games at Cornell's Lynah Rink are legendary).
I’m torn. As a fan I would be upset if a player forced his way off the team, but as a person I think you should be able to sell your labor to who you want.I like Fox as a player but I don't like the precedent of refusing to sign with the team that drafted you.
Yeah, even as a Ranger fan from NY, that was a pretty boring read.I read it, and I regret wasting my time doing so. Fluff from start to end.
It's an article about New York for people from New York.
Is Fox's family actually rich? I haven't heard anything about that--especially compared to seemingly endless number of pro-hockey sons coming into the league nowadays.Rich kid from a rich family grows up entitled. Hard to cheer for him tbh, especially writing these articles.
Yeah I don't see the point of it. Other fans (especially CGY and CAR fans, but also likely NJ and NYI fans) will read it and now use it as an excuse to hate him even more. NYR fans already loved him. This article would be fine if written by someone from Columbus or Winnipeg, but when it comes to New York, there really is no point to it.I read it, and I regret wasting my time doing so. Fluff from start to end.

Yeah, the Norris-reigning dman currently in his third year is a loser. He's a loser. Feel bad for Calgary who took a shot on him.
Me too, I wish the same 3-4 teams would always be packed!I feel the exact opposite. I much prefer the European system where players get to sign where they want. I didn't actually follow college hockey--I just went to the games with friends--so I didn't know who Fox was at the time. Knowing that I missed multiple opportunities to watch Fox before he became a superstar is yet another reason I'll never forgive myself for not putting the effort in to getting tickets to a Harvard/Cornell game.
I understand when you don't want to commit a team that drafted. It's not totally unusual. But to deny a 2nd team that traded for you? That's a whole nother issue.
Fox not rejected Calgary, but also Carolina. He's a great player of course but I don't like him that much.
Except that isn't at all what would happen. Nearly every team has had their day in the sun for drawing players for various reasons.Me too, I wish the same 3-4 teams would always be packed!
