Sheary has terrible playoff numbers, less than 10 goals per 82 games. The Bruins are the best team in the league, trade for someone that can make an impact on the playoffs. Toews or bust.
I only follow the B's, don't know too much about other teams players.
I thought Toews was a shell of his former self, has he had a resurgence, or
am I off ?

Trent Frederic last ten games (since Hall was put on third line on a pretty regular basis). 3-3-6+7 18 hits. Projected over 80 games 24-24-48+56 142 hits. That is pretty good production from a third line winger.

Debrusk or Zacha could be on the 3rd line
I suppose, if the acquired player is significantly more impactful than either of those two. But JDB has really blossomed with 37 & 63, and was lucklustre with Coyle before that. Of course, they might have to deal DeBrusk to get said player. But I don't know. The chemistry of the lines and the chemistry of the room seems to be working pretty well thus far. I could see them putting Zacha on the third line, but not JDB.

On pace for 28 goals a couple days ago. Would be a great utility guy on the third line and bump Coyle down to the “4th” if you want to call it that. I think with his special teams play and ability to play in the top 6 when needed he’d be a valuable pick up.

But after the Mitchell Miller fiasco, why would the bruins entertain bringing him here?

What do you mean? Toews isn’t Mitch Miller.
Toews was the captain of the Blackhawks when the Kyle beach situation took place. It’s hard to believe he didn’t know anything about what went on. I’m just saying that after the Miller situation that the bruins may not want to take on a player like that. Just my thought. Still a decent player though.

Kane was on that team too, no way Toews knew and Kane didn’t. Still not sure that disqualifies them from playing with the Bruins.

I watch the Hawks a lot, including this year. That team is an absolute dumpster fire. Max Domi has the lowest Hockey IQ of anyone on the planet and Kane is basically going through the motions until they can ship him for assets. Toews has easily been their best player. He plays hard, for 200ft and 60 min every game. He has found his scoring touch and has been terrific on faceoffs this season.

That said, I wouldn't give up a 1st rounder to get him as a rental. And that's what its going to take to get him, regardless of the cap situation.

Ownership knew, the Front Office knew and the Head Coach knew about the Beach situation and nobody did anything. Whether or not everyone on the roster knew is debatable. However to expect the players to take a stand when the entire organization above them knew about it and did nothing, is unrealistic and quite frankly, a little unfair. I would have preferred that they had, but I'm not gonna tar and feather them for staying silent.

Debatable - however larger point is how gunshy leadership would be following the miller fiasco
It’s not like Kane and Toews are social pariahs now, they’re both still regarded as the best deadline pickups this year. Obviously what happened was f***ed up and you can say everyone should have spoke out about it for sure, but I don’t think they deserve all the blame.

I would give up just about anything not named Lysell because I think he puts them over the top. He also has the last say in where he goes with the NTC, so maybe it won’t cost a ton? I’m usually dreaming with these scenarios but that’s who I’d be after.

Nah, pass on Toews, Horvat or a top 6 RW that can push others down the depth chart.

I’m not saying they do - I’m just saying that the bruins leadership group got so skewered on the Miller thing that even the hint of something controversial will have them steer clear
