Hi everyone, With the NHL draft all done and dusted, now is a good time to reflect on how our teams have done historically at the draft! This is a continuation of the first time I did this in 2017. Back then I looked at every draft from 2003 to 2017 and tried to determine how each team can...

Just four days until the most unpredictable NHL draft in recent memory. Very little consensus, lots of potential trades. Here are a few notes before I begin. I tried to put a bit more emphasis on a player’s floor and likely projection this year as opposed to betting on upside every time...

It is time for the annual write-up on Russian draft-eligible prospects. Last year I had an impression that diving too deep in the details might be not the most entertaining way, so I'll try to make it shorter this time. We always can get into more details in the discussion though if there will...

PROSPECT RANKING WRITE-UP 1. LW William EklundDjurgårdens IF, SHL [5’10”. 172lbs. Born on October 12, 2002.] There isn’t a unanimous #1 in this draft, but Eklund is the most elite player available. He’s one of the best scorers in the draft. Just really good shot selection. His sharp offensive...

I know I said it was final when I last posted my ranking a month-and-a-half ago, but I couldn't help but continue to watch these prospects. My rankings have changed a fair bit since then, and I also decided to try something new with this set of rankings: I gave each prospect a number grade and a...

PROSPECT RANKING WRITE-UP 1. LW Alexis Lafrenière Rimouski Océanic, QMJHL [6’1”. 192lbs. Born on October 11, 2001.] Strong and fast playmaker. Always creating chances whenever he’s on the ice. Lafrenière is a playmaking power forward that plays with grit. He’s not a runaway McDavid level...

1. Alexis Lafreniere - The easiest ranking in my list. His blend of smarts, skill, speed, shot, and work-ethic is very rare. I don't think his potential is that much higher than the players than those ranked from 2-6, but I think he's almost a guarantee to hit his upside...

It's unusual to write the annual write-up on Russian draft-eligible prospects in the situation we all are in: a lot of uncertainties in the world of hockey (and not only hockey) and, obviously, in terms of the draft too, as we don't even know for sure when and how it will be held. No U18 WJC, no...

Regular season has concluded in Russian leagues, so it might make sense to start looking at the prospects and RFAs, who might decide to move to NA this offseason. And by the offseason I mean mostly the time after the 30th of April, as the KHL has changed the rules regarding contract terminations...
