In all seriousness, the league only looks for the pendulum swing back followed by a swing forward. Players can redirect pucks blatantly or swing the skate a bit forward.

That said, it hit Zucc's opposite skate anyway. Plus, you made your bed.

IIHF changed the rules so that you can't even 'direct' the puck in off a skate anymore. NHL obviously still lets you direct the puck in.

Funny thing is, this entire time I thought they made a bad call in that game. Now I realized they were just following the rules.

No it wasnt. It was his right skate that kicked the air, his left skate that hit the puck was just angled so the puck deflected towards the goal.

Yes, it wasn't a bad call or interpretation by the refs, it was a ridiculous and stupid rule change by IIHF. Shooting the proverbial messenger when people were blaming the refs on that one.
