I still think the NHL should have some type of loan system, similar to soccer.
Loans would ruin the league, imagine a tanking team wants to tank even more (let’s say Vancouver for now) and loans someone like Chris Tanev to the Leafs/Lightning for the rest of the season. The system right now is pretty good

That's cool but when you reward Shattenkirk, Smith, Names, Spooner, Zib with multi year deals all while proving absolute **** as to compared to Zucc, who has lead this team in points 4 out of the last 5 years is fkn ridiculous to say the least.
Just my opinion..

The Rangers have signed Zucc to 5 separate contracts in the last 9 years. Zucc is now 31. All of those players were signed at age 28 or younger and none of them will be older than Zucc is now when those contracts expire.

Namestnikov and Spooner had to be signed or we would have lost them for nothing. That would be some pretty awful asset management. We managed to get Strome for Spooner, which isn't much, but maybe he'll have some value to us or as a trade chip. Namestnikov has played well for us and should be a decent trade chip this year or next. Shattenkirk was a UFA. Should we never sign UFAs because they have no history with us? Smith played very well for us in the playoffs 2 years ago. It's not the Rangers fault that his game fell off a cliff. And Zib? Really? Were we really not going to re-sign our 24 year old RFA #1 center?

The Rangers appreciate what Zucc has done and Zucc has already been compensated for it. We shouldn't be in the business of paying players for what they have done in the past. He's worth more to us now as a trade chip than he would be as a player for us.

Currently the Rangers have Zibanejad, Kreider, Zuccarello, Staal, Skjei and Lundqvist on 4+ year deals.

Zibanejad would be the first guy I traded.
He's a 3rd line C/PP specialist on any good team and completely fkn useless otherwise..

There are 2 options:

1. The closed system. Salary cap, trades, no transfers for money, no relegation, but you can have a draft
2. The open system. Transfers, loans, promotion/relegation, free agency exists still, but no draft

I'm typing from a phone so can't get into to much detail without breaking this thing in frustration but NONE of these clowns deserve be on this team..Period.

Smith has played all of ONE week entirely, of good hockey throughout his career..ONE.
That's it!

Names has played better as of late and I don't mind Strome so much as he can PK but at the end of the day, these are all garbage players that you aren't going to win shit in the end.

Why are they here?????

Another thing I'd like to add/question is that I don't understand the posters that don't account for 5 on 5 play.

Our top 2 centers have a grand total of 7 goals at even strength between the 2 of them over 25 games.

That is horrific as compared to the rest of the league.

They aren't even ranked within the top 50.

When I get in front of a PC and can type, I'd really like to gauge everyone's input on 5 on 5 play..

I wonder who on Tampa they're going to want back? plus also removing the condition on the earlier trade? so like Tampa's 1st first if the don't win the cup or their 2nd if they do.

and 99 others

If only the Kings didn’t suck this year, he could’ve been reunited with Hagelin in LA

I’ll be rooting for whatever team trades for him

If you don't understand my point I'll leave it there...

But I'll tell you guys a little bit more about myself. I'm a close friend of Mats, I've known him since school days in Norway.

Anyway, with the likely departure of Zuccarello soon, it will also mean the departure of Webster on this board.
I'll have to move with him to his new team ;)

Oh no. Anything but that.
