For NBA, the super teams will command a premium. LAC sale also set a nice bar. Surprised Lebron arrival doesn't have a bigger an impact on Lakers.

As for NHL, I'd be surprised if a single team was in top 100.

Rangers are number 1 at 1.5 billion, so I think it would easily crack the top 100, top 75, perhaps.

well I'd still rather own any NHL team [maybe not Zona] vs. the Cleveland Browns

NFL numbers will eventual drop since viewership is tanking. NBA's numbers are inflated and will burst when the same teams keep winning over and over again (Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento, Minnesota, etc. are completely irrelevant in the league). MLB is in bad shape where half of the league has huge attendance problems - TV money is keeping them afloat. NHL's next television deal will/should increase teams' values.

I was also surprised but the NBA went up, almost 26% in value compared to 2017... that's a very major hike
Almost too good, shades of Enron.

that new TV deal they got is the rising tide.

they got $24 billion for the broadcast rights...for comparison, the NFL's deal was $27 billion, so the NBA essentially got NFL money
Will the NHL ever get anything close to this? Even the MLS got offered 4 billion at some point last year.

The NHL had gotten lapped in recent years. Values have grown, but the NBA is destroying the league.

NHL will always be the 4th major sport in North America. Only in Canada is it number 1. NOt surprised not a single NHL team made it.

NFL and NBA are incredibly profitable.
20+% profit margin

Consider your average restaurant probably operates at around 6%

The LA Rams are worth $3 billion? Wow. I’d be surprised if they could fill up a moderately sized hockey arena every Sunday.

Also a little surprised the Leafs or Habs aren’t worth more than the Browns. But I guess the NFL is just a whole lot richer.

I am surprised that Green Bay is ahead of the Boston Celtics on the list. This year is the Packers 100th season of football (98th NFL season).

I am surprised that Chelsea is 46th on the list and not higher. Maybe it is their venue size (41K) holding them back. They will expand capacity soon.

I am surprised that the phony Cleveland Browns even made 50th place. It is the NFL TV contract winning over 1 victory in the last 2 seasons.

I am not buying most of these teams values as they are overblown as others above have stated reasons as to why. The NBA signed a new tv deal just a year/two ago right? NHL tv deal was like 8 years ago - once the new hockey deal is announced, value will go up for each franchise as I expect the deal to at least double in value at a minimum for a tv contract for the NHL. That still doesn't close the gap tremendously, but I think it makes things look a bit more closer to reality than they are right now.
