You're right. It's not a good start for him.

But I'm far from worried about him and his career as a Devil.

All he needs is to be put in the proper position to succeed.

It's a tired sports-related cliche but it's true.

Hynes has done the opposite of that.

I, for one, would never have broken up the Hall - Nico - Bratt line in the first place which is what Hynes did LAST SEASON (remember?) as well.

He is still spooked about Bratt's 2nd-half fade EVEN NOW.

It pisses me off that he's playing him so little after 2 seasons....now in the 3rd.
Were you not excited at the proposition of Bratt playing on a line with Gusev? His most common linemates this year are Gusev and Hughes.

I mean I agree but I don’t think Rooney was lousy tonight. He played a role that other skilled players wouldn’t want to play and frankly this team doesn’t have many of those players right now. A team like the bruins you are going to need a player or two that plays like Rooney.

The composition of the team is a different discussion but I don’t think this is the game to say “why are you playing Rooney over xyz”

still a gusev-Rooney-Bratt line is inexcusable. The fact this team has no clear cut 4th line is the issue not the individual (Rooney).

You're right.

This is the game to ask why Hynes is still employed.

I was....until Hynes changed it up and put in f'n Rooney.

And remember when he replaced Bratt with Hayden?

Btw, the Gusev - Hughes - Bratt line did not even last a full game before Hynes dismantled it......JUST BECAUSE.

yeah....I was no longer excited anymore 'cause now I know Hynes does not allow us to have nice things.

Rooney is just a symptom of the problem. He's a career minor leaguer who makes mistakes constantly, but all Hynes can see is he "hustles". A competent coach would be giving Rooney extremely sheltered minutes or not playing him at all.

every team has that 4th line of players you’re taking about. We’ve bumped our potential 2nd/3rd lines of high skilled players to that 4th line and people complain about the limited ice time. Well there’s only 60 minutes in a regulation game and that’s what those plugs do. Play their asses off for 8-10 minutes a night. The high skilled dudes may not shine in that scenario. Rooney is the least of our worries when he’s getting 8 minutes of 5v5 time and 6 minutes of tough play that skilled dudes might not want to do or excel in.

Hynes isn’t playing Rooney 20 mins a night and hall 11. God am I now defending hynes on something? Must be my bedtime.

I don't know the breakdown, but we know Hughes has been good away from Bratt and gusev. While together Bratt and Gusev continue to struggle.

I for one would definitely not go back to Gusev Hughes Bratt.

my god the Rooney speak needs to end... there are a million things to criticize Hynes on plugging Rooney in lineup isn't one of them.

Agreed.

Most of the people doing this are the HFBoards types that want to see every rookie given every minute; they're just mad JB isnt playing.

I actually totally missed the game last night.

Would someone be kind enough to iterate where the fail happened yesterday so we ended up down 3 and zero goals.

Was it special teams, defense, 5v5?Cory?

But honestly, Cory wasnt bad. The actual score of last night's game probably should have been 6-2 Boston.

Catch all. Okay basically, same as every previous game.

Goals for Cory lives on...

Have we even scored a PP goal all season?
I thought he looked better last night than the previous game. He let in a weak goal early in the 3rd against Philly and then let out a very poor rebound 30 seconds later.

I thought he had no chance on any of the goals scored last night.

The PP is like 0 for 16 or something now. There was a stat last night that we had spent 29 minutes on the PP this season and haven't scored a goal. I think we had one or two more PP's even after that.

Kowalsky is not for the NHL, nor do I think he was even for the AHL.
