Well ****. I feel bad, he's an awesome person. Business is business though.

Surprising move, but yeah, needed to be done. Hopefully it clears some cap space for another player to picked up, but this was probably done for a roster spot for prospects.

I'm actually a little happy to see Fletcher making a move. Even if it is putting someone on waivers.

He nevers wants to make a change.

For some reason I feel like this should be the beginning of something big... but its just another blah move overall.

****** move to waive someone on their birthday.

I would have sent Rupp down. Guy hasn't done anything this season. Konopka at least provides face-offs and is more than willing to fight for teammates. Rupp is just out there taking up space. And veilleux really? What does he do up here. Not a big fan of waiving ZK.

Thinking there might be another move Fletcher is attempting that may be best served by chucking a 4th line center off the team.

Making room for Chris Simon, maybe?

Your guess is as good as anyones at this point. Because if all we needed was to make room for Kuemper, there's much better (read: more useless) guys to stick on waivers than Konopka. The guy doesn't do much but he is damn good at faceoffs, and he does fight...even if that is a sideshow at this point. At least he cares.

Maybe Yeo believes it's the Winter Classic and kept Rupp because he's a Winter Classic specialist? :dunno:

Yeo will be really disappointed when he realizes that they're playing indoors..

I also think this means Fletcher is working on another trade and needs cap space for said trade. Place the guy most easily replaced but most likely to get claimed is my guess why it was ZK. Otherwise, like others have said, why not just send SV back or waive Rupp?

I feel bad about this, he's a great guy. It could mean a bigger move's imminent though.

While he definitely was a great guy off the ice, this is a business. And right now business sucks. The 4th line is complete trash and needs to be reevaluated. I would hope this means they are going to call up Haula eventually and move Brodziak to the 3rd and run a Cooke-Haula-Coyle line. Coyle is terrible at faceoffs.

No doubt!.. But Rupper's a former Pen my friend. Cant forget that. Makes him an untouchable as far as Chuck Riser is concerned.

Placing ZK on waivers might say as much about Brodziak's future as anything else. His recent demotion to 4C might be more of a permanent nature (as in Yeo throwing in the towel on him). In addition to providing almost nothing offensively this year he was 4-15 in faceoffs in the last game against the Blues. Not the kind of effort you want from a veteran when the team is in a big slump.

Brodz needs to go. Not the same hard working player that showed an impressive amount of grit and heart for this team. Players change.

I would agree with you there.
