Zaitsev has comparable defense and far better offense.

Really not seeing any case for Larsson - he's very overrated on HFBoards.

Either way if we are going to compare players whether in a poll or not can someone post some comparative stats?

They are going to come out eventually as people cherry pick their data so we might as well have everything on the board so to speak.

They're close. Different strengths and weaknesses. Probably depends on a teams needs.

Comparable defense? I just spit up some coffee laughing.
Zaitsev has a 60%+ expected goals for at the moment. He's very good defensively and he was the #1 d-man for the best KHL team along with being the #1 d-man for team Russia at the World Championships and World Cup of Hockey (and played very well in both tournaments). Keep spitting up that coffee though.

Zaitsev was a tire fire in his own zone last year. -22 or something wasn't it?

Nah, he wasn't a tire fire. He actually played quite well but him and Rielly faced over the top usage. Zaitsev also hit a wall late in the season, due to being used to the shorter KHL schedule. He played a lot better when paired with Gardiner and right now he's +7, not that I take +/- seriously either way.

If Larsson was Andrey Larsonov he would have been a 1st pairing defenseman on team Russia.

Larsson is definately better defensively, and they are not so far away offensively(unless Zaitsev improved so much in TML). Nikita is hot now, but he will cool down eventually.

They're really far away offensively lol. Zaitsev has more points this year and last than Larsson has in this year + last year + the year before

31 GM:s would choose Larsson ahead of Zaitsev, if given the option of either.

There's your answer.
