Zadina also played on a way better team while Mantha is 6'5 (not that Zadina is small). And the list of CHL players that scored 50 or more goals in their draft year is pretty impressive. Still a huge fan of Mantha and think he can be a 35 goal 70 point forward eventually.

I think Zadina will eventually outpace Mantha but for now Mantha is developing into a really good top 6 winger.

I think back to the Duclair vs Mantha talk on main boards and think about all the crow Rangers fans should be eating right now :)

I wouldn't mind seeing a line of Zadina-Larkin-Mantha either. With Larkin's speed and playmaking, he can feed Zadina the puck. Mantha can make room for everyone, be the Holmstrom net front guy, or Larkin can feed him some one-timers. The future is starting to look bright as far as our forwards go.

I think Zadina will have a better career (I would hope a top-10 pick would have a better career than a top-20 pick), but I think Mantha and Zadina will be top producers on a future Red Wings contender.

worth noting that Zadina also put up his numbers in his first year on north american ice while Mantha has played on it his whole life and was in his second season in the QMJHL

that said Mantha definitely never should have gone as late as he did, people overthinking themselves on the work ethic thing

6'5 forwards with 50 goal draft years that are good to great at everything shouldn't go anywhere near 20th overall

Lack of consistent work ethic dropped Mantha in the draft. It has still plagued him over the past several years, but his consistency seems to be improving every shift. That will determine if he reaches his potential.

I have never heard that complaint about Zadina ( or Ras).

Mantha needs to hang out with Larkin, and stay far away from current AA.

i think mantha is his own man. In his interviews he talks about his weaknesses, its crystal clear to him what areas he has to improve on. in my opinion, he is a real pro. He will further improve, lets hope for some 60+ point seasons

Zadina's considered better at his draft than Mantha due to Zadina being a much more well rounded player, and Mantha falling due to questioning about his competitiveness.

If you redraft 2013, Mantha probably goes somewhere around 8-12. Think Mantha probably has a few 30 goal seasons, and would hope Zadina does as well, but think Zadina has the better chance to peak at higher numbers and will likely have a more well-rounded game.
