The coaching staff must feel he's close, some seasoning in GR will do him some good. There are lots of NHL veterans down in GR (Terry, Lashoff, McIlrath) that will help him make the transition.

Probably for the best. It's looking like the Rasmussen and Svechnikov are on the inside lane for roster spots.

The Defence is a tougher call. Blashill has been saying Hicketts has separated himself the most. Given Sulak's age and physical attributes he will probably the be the 2nd "kid" to make the blue line. The first couple of games without Green/Ericsson will determine who sticks long term between Hicketts and Sulak.

A Cholo and Hronek first pairing in the AHL is damn sexy and helps them build chemistry for the big club.

I'd trade the useless plug Glendening and run Zadina-Helm- Svechnikov as a 4th line. The old "top 6/9 or nothing" excuse is so played out. There never was a spot for Zadina, why not just tell it like it is?

No big deal, no need to rush the kid, plenty of season - let him ease into the professional game.

I'd rather he play closer to 20 mins a night against top AHL talent than play 9-10 minus a night against bottom NHL talent.

I’m fine with this. He needs to adjust to the quicker tempo and refine the timing for the stuff he likes to do.

Svechnikov has low key been a pretty good player since his call-ups at the end of last year.

I think that line would get exploited in road games

Completely agree, would much rather see Zadina dominate the AHL before he wastes a year of his ELC

Fine by me. First half AHL + WJC + NHL seems the perfect scenario for his development.

I will say - he's more of a project than I would've imagined. I thought he would've been more electric out of the gate. Just have to keep reminding myself that he's 18 and this is his second year in NA lol.

He gains nothing playing 8 minutes a night.

Just heard at NHL Network that is Zadina might compete for Rocky of the year, just talking heads. Before draft we new that Zadina not physically ready for NHL, that's why we able to get him. It's hard to compete with the man when you are teenager. And if he is so good now, We got a potential monster hockey player in couple years

Mostly what it is... unless a kid shows beyond a shadow of a doubt that he’s absolutely ready for the show in his draft year. I mean, absolutely makes it impossible to send him down because he’s generating so much offense or shutting down the other team so much, you have literally nothing to lose from letting him learn the pro ropes from the vets you have in the AHL. Not that he should have multiple years of time, but a portion of a season where he isn’t just thrown in against the best of the best of the best with honors sir and is given some support to learn what the pro life is... it’s generally a pretty good idea.

I like that progression quite a bit. It’s very similar, if not exactly, the road Pastrnak took with the Bruins. I think Zadina and Pastrnak are eerily similar players.

He just hasn't figured out how to play his game at the pro level yet. He needs more time.

Was that the fantasy hockey show?

I saw that last night. They mentioned he had a good chance to have a great year as a rookie...because he'd be playing big minutes on a 2nd line with Andreas Athanasiou.

Either that guy has more insider information than anyone else in the world, or he has no idea what he's talking about. I think I'd hesitate to take fantasy advice from him.

 Oh come on now, "hardest working guy on the team" is an arbitrary definition. Stats prove that Glendening is nothing special on the PK or in a shut-down role. Anyways I'm not worried about Zadina, only trying to point out there are options (such as getting rid of Witkowski which I'd be in favor of).

Edit: We'd also be adding a legit PP specialist to what has been near worst in the league.

Yea. Just give him Frk's role from last year, that'll be great.

Do not burn a year of his contract with an expansion draft looming.

Don’t think contract years matter. It is years of pro experience.
