Why? Bogosian sucks.

Because it's free depth. You're not signing him to play 1st or 2nd pairing minutes. You sign him to play 3rd pairing minutes in case of injury. Rather that than go out and spend an asset on someone (Unless its the Massive Kapanen/Kerfoot+ for D-man deal)
