Way too early to say. Some teams haven't really been tested.

Provorov definitely stood out for me in a bad way. Never seen him play before but he did not look like a first round pick.

It's only been one game but I'll give it a shot:

Impressed me:

Michael Spacek
Dmytro Timashov
Brandon Hickey
Rasmus Asplund
Dylan Strome

Disappointing:

Timo Meier

only watched Czech Rep v Russia and USA v Canada.

Nobody particularly impressed outside of a few shifts here and there, so, I'll just leave that category empty.

Leading in the Flop category is Mitch Marner. But I'm a fan and expect him to pull it together in time for the medal rd. At least he'd better, or else TC will be making an early 1/4 final exit.

The I expected more from:
Crouse... not seeing it.
Swedish D... ugh. Although better against the Swiss than Canada. Trending upwards.
Swedish goaltending
Canadian goaltending

I like what I see from:
Timashov
Asplund
A.Nylander
Finland played really well once they got going
Strome
USA as a team.

Granted it's only been a game and some exhibition games so obviously. This is going to change..

On a tasty wave
twitter.com
Impressed

Nedeljkovic - feel much better about US golatending.
Finlands top line - man they are fun to watch.
JFK - Slick hands and he can move the puck for Sweden.
Strome - dangerous everytime he touches the puck.

Not impressed

DeBrincat - deserved the beating he took on twitter yesterday.
Refs - are going to cost teams some games. Not real shocking.

1) The Regals:

Auston Matthews. He is the best player of the tournament. That much is certain already. In the regal league of his own in this competition. Well, with another one:

Willie Nillie. You can see it. The second best player in the tournament. Hope he will be back.

2) The Elite

Lots of Canadian kids like Perlini, Barzal and Strome.
Lots of US kids like Tkatchuk, Werenski and Dvorak; their goalie (sp?!).
The best of the Finns: Laine and Aho (Rantanen should show more)
The other Swedes: Alex Nylander, Timasov kid (sp)
The Suisse kids: Timo Meyer.

3) The Good and entertaining ones:

e.g. Pulju (must see more than one game against a weak team of him before I can see him as "elite"), Sonny Milano (God I love this kid's style; reminds me of good ol time hockey!), Schmaltz, Saarijarvi, Holmstrom kid (impressed me by his drive), Gauthier, Hicketts (You cannot but love this kid)...and that Malgin Dude and Tino Kessler.

4) The WTF category: Bad and ugly ones

First to come to my mind: Simon Kindschi SUI: I mean WTF!?

He didnt really show it against Canada though.

IMO he was very good in that game, the only problem is that his linemates are far from his level and they lack similar hockey IQ. I loved some of his small but slick moves he showed off once a while.
