Sorry if this has already been a thread. Just wondering what other teams prospects are closest to NHL ready and what role they are projected to have in the AHL this year.

*= career AHL'er/not a prospect

Grand Rapids Griffins/Detroit Red Wings

projected lineup:

*Jeff Hoggan-Riley Sheahan-Tomas Jurco

Landon Ferraro-Calle Jarnkrok-Teemu Pulkkinen

Martin Frk-Luke Glendening-Mitch Callahan

*Tristan Grant-*David McIntyre-Louis-Marc Aubry

Trevor Parkes

Adam Almquist-*Nathan Paetsch

Xavier Ouellet-Ryan Sproul

*Brennan Evans-Max Nicastro

Gleason Fournier
Nick Jensen (injured)

Petr Mrazek
Jared Coreau
Thomas McCollum

Prospects who will most likely start the year in the ECHL (Toledo)

Don't know that I agree with the lineup in the OP. Have a feeling Hoggan plays third line. Think Tvrdon either makes the team or goes back to Vancouver for an overage season, I hope he sticks in GR, we are weakest on left wing.

Marchenko also came all the way over from Russia and while I have heard the Toledo rumblings that just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. He brought his wife over and was apartment shopping in GR. I have to believe he didn't leave Russia for the ECHL and he already has a ton of NHL qualities. If you watched the last pre-season game yes he had the ghastly turnover but outside of that, he looked like a NHL D-man in terms of skills and maturity. He in no circumstance should go down all the way to the ECHL, he should at least be the 7th D-man in GR rotating in. Fournier is pretty useless, I wish they would find a taker for him, he has no future in Detroit.

Tvrdon will likely start down the lineup a little bit but what I would like to see

Jurco - Sheahan - Ferraro
Tvrdon - Jarnkrok - Frk
Hoggan - Glendening - Pulkkinen
Grant - McIntyre - Callahan
Aubry & Parkes

Almqvist - Paetsch
Ouellet - Sproul
Evans - Nicastro
Marchenko rotating in

Mrazek (looks like he will start the season in Detroit)
McCollum/Coreau (I prefer Coreau once Monster is healthy and Petr is back)

Interestingly this team has a lot of right handed shots, something that has been lacking in both Detroit and Grand Rapids. I think keeping Tvrdon in Grand Rapids is important for this and letting him work his way up the lineup, he is ideal for the second line even if he starts on the third for a couple weeks or a month or two kind of like how they handled Jurco.

Wings usually don't overwhelm guys fresh out of junior. Frk likely starts on the 3rd line like Jurco did last year. Not only to let him acclimate to the pro game without putting too much pressure on him in a top 6 role, but also to let him develop his skills playing without the puck.

You're probably right about Marchenko and Tvrdon. I considered the moving aspect with Marchenko and not wanting to hurt his confidence by sending him down further. In the end I just felt like the Wings would rather have him play everyday rather than occasionally in GR. They'll have some tough decisions to make when Jensen is healthy. Although, odds are there will be other injuries throughout the season that open up spots. I agree on Fournier, he could very well get sent down to Toledo instead of Marchenko.

Marlies will look pretty close to this... I think Devane, Ashton and Colborne will be with the Leafs with Clarkson and McLaren out.

Broll - McKegg - Leivo
Ross - Carrick - Biggs
Ryan - Crescenzi - Bodie

Percy - Holzer
Yuen - Granberg

Man, I love that defense. Offense is missing major peices, but that D is almost entirely Leafs prospects.

OKC is probably going to have a veteran heavy line-up.

bewbies posted this line-up in our Barons thread:

Linus Omark / Anton Lander / Mattew Ford
Derek Nesbitt / Andrew Miller / Ryan Jones(if he clears)
Austin Fyten / CJ Stretch / Tyler Pitlick
Ryan Martindale / Nicholas Tremblay / Erick Lizon
Ewanyk, Kessy, Hamilton

Brad Hunt / Corey Potter(if he gets waived/clears)
Martin Marincin / Taylor Fedun
Oscar Klefbom / Brandon Davidson
Leach

Richard Bachman
Ty Rimmer

Probably tough to find a better D core in the league.

Hoggan - Ferraro/Glendening - Mursak was the pretty consistent third line last year with great chemistry. Will be interesting to see what they do but Jurco coming on strong at the end of the season bumped Hoggan down. They might start that way, but they will function best towards the end of the season if he is bumped back down.

Blashill talks about Frk in a way that his opportunities might arrive a lot quicker. Keep in mind he basically played on a pro line last season, Jurco spent a great deal of his Q career on the second line with lesser players on the Seadogs. But the talk on Frk makes it seem his chances will come sooner.

I think Hoggan holds the second line for a little bit, hopefully Tvrdon can supplant him, but I don't think Hoggan is going on line 1. One of Pulkkinen or Frk is likely starting in the top 6 on the right wing, my guess is Frk wins that job. The Wings will want Ferraro to get top 6 minutes in his final AHL year and they are trending him out to wing, so he is probably the other RW in the top six.

There's no way Da Costa is back in Bingo and no chance Culek gets playing time over Dzuirzynski or Karlsson. They've been using Schneider at center in camp, so I expect him to shift into the 3rd or 4th line C spot.

Unless I missed them being signed, which could be a possibility.

Manchester Monarchs will be something like...

Pearson - Vey - Toffoli
Kitsyn - Shore - Kozun
Andreoff - Weal - Sabourin
Bishop - Czarnik - O'Neill

Campbell - Deslauriers
Forbort - Miller
Roach - Bodnarchuk

Jones
Berube

Could be wrong though, someone better versed with the Monarchs ought to correct me.
