i had an idea a couple days ago thinking about teams like nashville and san jose etc... keep in mind i don't know the finer details of the cap but i'm wondering if this would be a good idea. here goes:
with a drafted player:
from 18 to 25 100% of their salary counts towards the cap
from 25 to 30 75% of their salary counts towards the cap
from 30 to 35 50% of their salary counts towards the cap
from 35 onwards 25% of their salary counts towards the cap
this would decrease roster turnover and encourage teams to put more emphasis on the draft. it would reward those currently getting shafted because they can't hold on to the players that are rightfully theirs
i apologize if this has already been proposed before as i am not a regular in the buisness of hockey
feel free to critiscize, it's just my idea
