I have noticed that many of the players who are ignored on these boards end up being pretty good pros. For the stars both Miet and Jokinin recieved little fanfare. For the stars currently I would look at
1) Loui Erikkson-some fanfare when taken but last year had a tough year developmentally as many NHLers took up his palying time in the SEL. Slow start in America but coming on of late. Still has top 6 potential. Still only 20.
2) Marius Holtet-Has transformed from a floater to a solid 2 way player in 2 years . Only 22, Marius has some skill and seems like he has achance to be a lower line center. To me he is ahead of Hagos who arrived in NA as a guy with NHL caliber defense.
3)Grossman) Another Swede, Grossman suprising was brought over ahead of Fransson. Now seems to be the most solid defenseman in Iowa's young d-corps ahead of Belle

Also progressing nicely:Neal, Lindgren, Wandell

If you want underrated, look right under your nose. Vojtech Polak from the Stars system is underrated (#17 on the Star's list). He's not even listed in this Stars fan list of 6 underrated guys. He was ripped for having a bad year in Europe, but had a great camp, almost made the Stars, has huge offensive upside, got called up briefly, and has 8g,11a,19p in 28 AHL games (which compares nicely to the Erikkson's 10g,12a,22p in 35 AHL games). Now that is underrated and under the radar.

Dustin Penner, Anaheim fans know who he is but this guy is DOMINATING the AHL, and he hasn't leached off of Getzlaf and Perry. He's played with the likes of Konopka, Shannon, and Glencross amongst others. He has the highest PPG of any player in the AHL with atleast 20 games played.

Suprisingly, both Montoya and Jessiman have both been REALLY knocked since being drafted and went from being severely overrated to being severely underrated. Jessiman is comming along verrrrrrrrrry slowly so who knows with him. Montoya is dominating the AHL, and is starting to get more praise at least after his crap year last year.

Patrick O'Sullivan and Roman Voloshenko.

Voloshenko is living behind Radulov's shadow but the kid is awesome. His skating has gotten better and he's benefiting from two great linemates but that shouldn't take away his potential.

Patrick O'Sullivan is awesome. He's behind Schremp because of his 2nd round plunge but Sully would have been a top 15 pick if he came out a year later.

o'sullivan is leading all AHL rookies in scoring...

I believes he's around 40 pts.

Voloshenko probably would be around 40 if not more had he not attended WJC tourney.

These 2 players are both top 2 line talents

If Mozyakin comes over... he's totally underrated.

I'm surprised nobody talks about him... since he's neck-and-neck with Morozov, and leads HFGod Malkin in the points race.

Eric Fehr is playing up to the hype in Hershey. The WHL guys seem to lack some respect when making the hop to the AHL/NHL but Fehr is really starting to look like a can't miss prospect. Before this year, I thought Fehr would eventually produce but I'm surprised that he's doing as well in the AHL without really adding any meat to his body. If he ever actually does start to bulk up, watch out. This guy could easily be the Caps' top-line right wing TODAY. That's not saying much, but it's true.

Lots of fans in DC cried when Parise got drafted right before we picked Fehr. No knock on Parise - he's great. But I think that's going to end up being a blessing for Washington.

Kings:
Petiot - Won't ever put up big points as a stay-at-home defenseman, but it solid
Boyle - Hasn't been producing as much for BC the past few games, but he's still been solid considering he's a project
Zaba - Putting up more good numbers for Colorado College as a Junior goaltender.

No, he doesn't. Although Malkin missed some games due to the WJC, he came back to Russia to score 6 points (3+3) in a 9-2 win of his team to regain the lead in the scoring race.

I hear good things about O'Bryne and Emelin.
Anyone else except me think that those two guys can become better (or = mostly) at Komisarek ?

BTW, I like what I saw about Chipchura at the last WJC. Grit and leadership, but I cant see him becoming a 2nd line center, probably 3rd.

The big knock on Mozyakin is his size and his mobility. He is a pretty decent skater but at his size he may find it fairly difficult to elude defenseman on the smaller ice surface. A guy who is 5'10 163 and doesn't have elite speed or will almost definitely have a hard time in the NHL even under the new rules. In my opinion he would have to bulk up at least a good 20 pounds to make it, which at this point in his career isn't particularly realistic.

Paul Stastny - Great playmaker lighting it up in the NCAA
Dustin Penner - How does a guy that is 6'4 240 pounds and skilled get overlooked. Has the ability to be a solid 2nd liner down the road.
Brian Elliot - He's dominated in the NCAA, one of the big reasons wisconsin is as good as they are.
Petri Kontiola - Another great playmaker, one of the best in the SM Ligga, his goal scoring touch needs a little refinement but everything else is there.

For the Blues, Konstantin Barulin, David Backes, Carl Soderberg, Juha-Matti Aaltonen.

Barulin's been absolutely lights out as a starting goalie in the RSL. Backes has been flying under the radar the past 2 or 3 years being the only consistent bit of offense on Univ. Minnesota-Mankato's squad. Size and skill make him a potential top 2 line power forward. Carl Soderberg is the leading scorer in the Swedish Tier II league, only reason he's not in te SEL is that his team was relegated. Ask any swede out there, he's one the most talented youngsters out there. JM Aaltonen, rookie of the year so far in the SM-Liiga, a bit undersized at 5'11" and 185lbs, but oozes skill and has some sick moves.
