So Montreal's LHD depth is pretty bad and their AHL team could use a decent young guy. Here are some examples I found:

- Trevor Carrick
- Griffin Reinhart (Although he may be too good to be on our AHL squad)
- Oliver Kylington
- Shea Theodore (I know he would be pretty pricey)
- Mattias Backman
- Esa Lindell
- Trevor Murphy
- Petteri Lindbohm
- Christian Djoos
- Mike Reilly (Same as Reinhart)
- Gustav Olofsson
- Ryan Graves
- Samuel Morin
- Robert Hagg
- Rinat Valiev

There's probably a few I missed, basically someone to fill our AHL top pairing and hopefully fill a bottom 2 pairing in 1-3 years.

What do you expect to trade for these players?

I'd say Shea Theodore's days in the AHL are over. He's far too good. And, to be honest, he'd immediately be Montreal's second best defenseman next to Weber

I'm sure you could pry him out of Anaheim, but they'd want Galchenyuk

Youll probably be able to get Freddy Claesson on waivers from Ottawa in a few weeks. Great top pair AHL guy who makes a great first call up and could probably handle bottom pair duties

Claiming someone on waivers does not help the OP as they are looking to have the player play in the AHL

Ottawa would be dumb to put him on waivers, that kid has alot of potential.

Or....hear me out....sign a UFA to act as a leader for your young guys who can fill that role, there should be plenty. 1 way NHL deal, waive at the beginning of the season, boom.

He was waived last year (and cleared) and he'll be waived again this year.

After the way he played when he got called up i doubt he'll get cleared. He averaged top 3 ES TOI in about 20 games (he also faced top lines) and he didnt look out of place one bit.
