I'll start.

Philly 2003:

Jeff Carter
Mike Richards
Colin Fraser
Stefan Ruzicka
Alexandre Picard
Ryan Potulny
Rick Kozak
Kevin Romy
David Tremblay
Rejean Beauchemin
Ville Hostikka

Lots of good prospects in that group. Carter and Richards are both well known, for good reason. Ruzicka and Beauchemin have both had their stock rise quite a bit since the draft. Potulny was hurt and missed most of last year, but is the leading NCAA division 1 goalscorer and is a possible HB candidate. Tremblay and Picard are both NHL possibilities as well.

What about your team?

Last Five years, eh?

2003 is probably the best, since Mark Stuart is gonna be a great D-Man and Bergeron already left his mark
If Toivonen turns into the goalie he's projected to be, maybe 2002 will end up being better

Ottawa has several good drafts to choose from, but in the last five years I'd take the class of 2001:
2 C Jason Spezza
23 D Tim Gleason
60 D Victor Uchevatov
81 D Neil Komadoski
99 G Ray Emery
127 D Christoph Schubert
162 D Stefan Schauer
193 C Brooks Laich
218 D Jan Platil
223 F Brandon Bochenski
235 Neil Petruic
256 F Gregg Johnson
286 R Toni Dahlman

Soezza is already a scoring line player with the Sens and has franchise potential.
Emery is blue chip goalie prospect and a 4th round steal.
Bochenski has scoring line potential and was a steal in that position.
Komadoski, Platil and Schubert are solid depth prospects already contributing in the AHL.
Dahlman already played a bit in Ottawa as a depth player.
Gleason (Smolinski)and Laich (Bondra) were used in trades, but it doesn't diminish their value as solid picks, Laich in particular..

A total of 9 players who might play in the NHL at some point, several of them potential impact players.

The same year the Devils won the cup (2000) they drafted David Hale, Teemu Laine (who might be coming into his own), Aleksander Suglobov (top offensive prospect), Matt DeMarchi (another good d-prospect), Paul Martin, Michael Rupp, Mike Danton, and Ken Magowan, along with two or three other no-names.

For the Oilers, 2001 was a solid year... Hemsky (13), Lynch (43), and Markkanen (133). 2003 might turn out to be the best, though. Pouliot, Jacques, Stortini, Umicevic, Brodziak and Roy all could find homes in the NHL.

Florida 2003 was great. One of the best drafts by a team in the last 10 years :teach: and FLA's best by far.

Tuma, Lojek, Stewart, Horton, Roussin, Hecimovic, Meyer, Kreps.

Every single one of those players has a legitamate chance to play in the NHL. 8 players from 1 draft. It was unreal.

Tuma and Lojek will both be 5th or 6th dmen someday, maybe better. Hecimovic will be on the 4th or 3rd line somewhere. Kreps's stock had risen at the beginning of the year, and Meyer is skyrocketing.

Plus James Pemberton and Denis Stasyuk are two good players who may each some day play in the NHL, although both longshots, I expect Pemberton at least to play an NHL game someday.

Probably 2001- Came out of it with Jason Bacashihua(turned into Shawn Belle), Yared Hagos(3rd liner in the making), and arguably our top forward prospect in Jussi Jokinen.

For the Leafs... 2001 and 2002 look like they're both solid...but I'll go with 2002:

Steen
Stajan
D'Amour
White

^ Steen and Stajan are blue chippers...

2001:

Colaiacovo
Wellwood
Pilar
Bell
Harrison
Kondratiev

^ Cola is playing phenominal, he could/will be a top pairing defenceman for the Leafs, in the future. Wellwood is on pace for 100 points as a 21 year old in the AHL, he could be a steal if he works on his skating and strength.

Panthers with...

Horton,Kreps,Stewart and Meyer should go down as one of the best if these boys excel big time in the NHL. like many expect them too.

I also like the year of Bou and I believe Taticek was in there with few others.

2001

1st-Stan Chistov-Still should be a big factor in NHL.
2nd-Mark Popovic-NHL ready Defensman
3rd-Joel Stepp-Looks like he will be a good third liner in the NHL.
4th-Timo Parssinen-Overager from Finland that they brought over and it didn't work out.
4th-Vladimir Korsunov-Could be another Vishnevski if he ever comes over.
4th-Brandon Rogers-NCAA D-man ready for a NHL spot next season.
5th-Joel Perrault-Center with size and skill playing for Cincy AHL.
6th-Jan Tabacek-Had one year in North America, probably never coming back.
7th-Tony Martensson-Ducks AHL leader the last two seasons, could have made the NHL this year but returned to Sweden.
8th-Martin Gerber-Legit starting goalie in the NHL traded to Carolina to make space for Bryzgalov.
9th-Pierre Parenteau-Talented winger playing in AHL. Already a pleasant surprise for a 9th rounder.

2003 should turn out to be a strong one for Anaheim as well.

Yes I completly agree

And I am also very exited seeing Danton play on the first line for San Quintin. Although I have heard strong rumors that they may trade him in a Blockbuster to the Rock for Joey "m4" Thomas and Frank "slippery soap" Robinson

Nashville's is, without a doubt, 2003

Ryan Suter- no explanation needed
Konstantin Glazachev- at one time projected to go in the first round
Kevin Klein- one of the best d-men in the OHL last year, working on his skills in the AHL
Shea Weber- One of the best d-men in the WHL, could be paired with Phaneuf at the WJCs
Richard Stehlik- Big, mean d-man with a booming shot
Teemu Lassila- one of the better young goalies in the sm-liiga
Grigori Shafigulin- invited to Russia's WJC tryout camp
Lauris Darzins- having a very solid offensive season with Kelowna as their import pick this year.

Great minds think alike.

Great minds think a like .. The question is best year in last 5 and you guys pick 2 and what is even funnier is that 2 of those other years leafs didn't have a 1st rounder and the other no 1st or 2nd rounder and the last one to pick is 2000 and they have already traded Boyes and Venarsky ,,,

Maggie the Monkey from TSN would have picked the same as you guys :D

Very few good drafts for Hawk fans, but I think we did good in 2002.

2002
21 D Anton Babchuk
54 D Duncan Keith
93 F Alexander Kozhevnikov
128 R Matt Ellison
156 D James Wisniewski
188 Kevin Kantee
219 G Tyson Kellerman
251 R Jason Kostadine
282 Adam Burish

The top 5 guys on that list will make solid NHLers. For 5 guys out of 9 to make it, thats a pretty good draft. Babchuk is why I would rate that draft over 2003.

Close call for 2003 being the best.
2003
14 D Brent Seabrooke
52 G Corey Crawford
59 D Michal Barinka
151 D Lasse Kukkonen
156 Alexei Ivanov
181 Johan Andersson
211 G Mike Brodeur
245 D Dustin Byfuglien
275 D Michael Grenzy
282 F Chris Porter
Barinka, Seabrokk, Kukkonen, Byfuglien, Crawford, and Broduer will all make the NHL in that order, which again is a very good make:miss ratio. Supposedly draft experts say 2004 was our best draft ever, but its way too early for me to judge on that.
