3.5 would have been a ridiculously good deal. As much as he was good for us, his contract was pricey.

What did he help this team accomplish while he was here? Not much.

He was past his prime, wasnt a huge scoring threat and wasnt physically imposing.

Just another DMan occupying a roster spot in Montreal.

    When he left.

Haven't hated a player as much as I've hated Hamrlik.

One of his more memorable goals with us, even though Pleky did everything to set him up

Hamrlik was a very solid #2/3 defenseman for us, really don't get the hate he got while he was here.

  9. His kind of jack-of-all-trade physical defenseman is what Bergevin wanted when he signed Bouillon. He was a reliable member of our bottom-4, able and professional. He had some offensive instinct.

Its irrelevant whether he was physical enough for me.

He was not physical enough to help the team. He is just a footnote in the history of the Canadiens being the softest team in the League and how teams were able to easily exploit that weakness.

Oddly enough the goalie who he scored that against has just retired!

Not true that people remember 1 great moment with Hamrlik...they just YouTubed his name and THEN they remembered it....Hamrlik was just this reliable guy you like to have on a team as you almost know that he's not exactly going to blow you away, but not going to cost you that much either. It changed as his career progresses, like for everybody else. But for me my memory of him would be that he was reliable.

Hamrlik I hated much, much more. It was something about how lazy he was on the ice - just listless and nonphysical. Terrible in the crease. His PP presence was Bouillon-esque.

I feel like he was paid as a #2 but was only capable of playing positional defence with no speed or offence whatsoever. He took Souray's number but not once did he even pretend to have a slapshot... It was always pansy little wristers that rolled around the end board and started a 2v1 break for the other team and Hamrlik was too slow to do anything about it.

He was severely overrated by the fanbase because of our ultra-defensive tactics. He was out of shape toward the end and a liability going forward. Just plain lazy, a 5.5m d-man should not be topping out at 30ish points, that's a giant waste of money.

And he showed how much of a greedy has-been he was during the lockout when he publicly aired his contrarian opinions - to the ire of everyone in the NHLPA.

Gionta I don't like because he's a blackhole of production and a smurf on a team that was much maligned as a smurfy, diving team. He should've never been captain because he's a mercenary and a talisman of the Jacques Martin era. When he leaves we might have a top6 with 6 actually good, physically capable top6 players for once.

Drew, Desharnais and Briere are Bergevin's problem, individually they all look like they're trying and so on. They're totally redundant and unnecessary but it's not their fault they suck.

My favorite moment involving him was when the Habs were leaving the ice at away game Hamrlik was caught on camera shouting "shut the **** up" at a fan heckling the team. It was caught on camera with full audio.

    Or Hit.
    Or Shoot.
    Or Skate fast.

Or play any sort of acceptable hockey on this play.

Y'know what? THAT'S the most memorable moment in Hamrlik's career. When he's so slow that his own goalie underestimates his footspeed and barrels toward him in an effort to not get embarrassed on a short handed attempt.
