I probably forgot someone, but this is roughly the swedish team:

Collberg - Wennberg - Possler
Burakovsky - De La Rose - Johnson
Nylander - Wallmark - Hedberg
Sandberg - Sundqvist - Sörensen
Karlsson

Hägg - L.Bengtsson
Kylington - Arnesson
Djoos - Olofsson

Dansk
Högberg
Johansson

Kylington is a 97-born but he is just too good to be left out IMO. They might go with an older team this year though. Not really sure how good this team is compared to previous years, the depth is really good in this age group and there are quite a few guys playing big roles for their SHL teams already. Maybe we can add one of the Lindholms or Forsberg later on but I wouldn't bet on it.

whats up with olofsson? i know nothing about him.

Why is there always at least 1 trolling finn?

Anyways, who is missing someone etc should be compared to team. IMO Canada missing monahan, mac and rielly is not that bad cause you have so much reserve. You still got roster full of first rounders. We(Finns) still have pretty good defense, even we might have lost Maatta and Ristolainen. Pokka should be one off the best guys in WJC, over 10 guys who are playing with men or are good performers in CHL. But Barkov ou boy we are weak in the middle.

Btw if we are talking just player skills, in my books biggest loser is USA.

pls dont misquote me i havent posted wtf comment anywhere. And yes! after looking at it i agreed Usa is the biggest loser followed by FINLAND. but try and tell that to the swedes and canadians who prefer 9 minutes elias lindholms and 1 goal filip forsbergs over Number 1 center Sasha Barkov

Here's my U.S. squad so far (no Jones, Trouba, or Galchenyuk):

Goaltenders (x3):

Gillies
Stolarz
Demko

Defensemen (x7):

Sieloff-Carrick
Skjei-McCoshen
Santini-Grzelcyk
DeAngelo

Forwards (x13):

Barber-Compher-Motte
Erne-Hartman-Kerdiles
Copp-Cassels-Fasching
Vail-Samuelsson-Matteau
Cammarata

Is Sieloff still eligible?

Even if he is, he has been sidelined all season so far with a staph infection, so I'm not sure what kind of shape he'd be in.

Yes every year other than lockout we hear what the team canadas etc could have been if they had the NHL players. now that finland has the best players missing it seems to be hard thing to swallow for the rest of countries.

You said Barkov is better than MacKinnon...

Regardless of that bit, Canada is missing:
Sean Monahan
Nathan MacKinnon
Morgan Rielly
Tom Wilson
Matt Dumba Questionable (I haven't heard a decision yet)

Finland is missing:
Aleksander Barkov
Olli Maatta
Rasmus Ristolainen

4 maybe 5 Canadians missing vs. 3 Finns missing. Math.

Sieloff is elgible and if he is able to play the Flames said they would let him go (he's in the AHL this year).

A 97 on the WJC team ? Isn't that unheard of basically ? Especially for a team like Sweden? Damn he must be good.

Ross Venus (LW) 19 1994-04-28 Solihull, GBR 6.00 165 L 13/14

They're up against France, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine so the competition should be relatively close. Particularly interested in seeing Liam Stewart playing Div 1B as a WHL player (Spokane), also looking forward to seeing young Sam Duggan playing as a '98 in a U20 tournament. And yes this is kind of a troll because nobody would expect a post like this in here :sarcasm:

Does Sam have any relation to Tom?

Team Finland

Lehkonen - Teräväinen - Kapanen
H. Ikonen - Saarela - J. Ikonen
Nikko - Tanus - Haapala
Rantanen - Kinnunen - Mäenalanen
Salminen

Pokka - Vainonen
Honka - Vainio
Parikka - Levo
Lindell

Saros
Husso

This looks somehow surprisingly good to me. Considering the lack of Barkov, Määttä and Ristolainen, that's still a group that could go all the way.

Pretty happy about Finland's prospects nowadays, future looks brighter than in a long time.

The best part about it is having good goaltending again. I kind of have to wonder why Saros could not have been used in last year's team as well.

Has anyone watched Team Sweden's games so far? And, if so, can that person tell me how J. Pettersson has looked so far? I've only watched him play for Linköping, and he's looked alright if not solid so far (last year he looked arguably better in the small sample pool we had). I'd argue we could use that type of player too, though the prospect of Oliver Kylington starting isn't half-bad!

Finland's first line looks scary. And I see no reason why Buffalo wouldn't let Ristolainen play in the tourney. Might need the confidence boost.

let's just say they all have equal omissions in that regard: sweden, finland, canada and usa.

Dumba at the moment is only costing wild games and im not gonna even rank him

Määttä > Rielly > Ristolainen atm
Barkov=Monahan>Mackinnon

so ye finland has bigger omissions than canada..

lindholms and forsberg better? u have to be kidding me
elias plays less than 10 minutes per game with no production
forsberg has 1 point in 9 games
and hampus is best rookie from swe but far from määttä

Barkov, Määttä > H.Lindholm > Ristolainen > Rest

U guys might be right about usa i only have barkov ahead of gally at the moment.
so summa summarum finland has the 2nd biggest omissions from wjc right after usa

Barkov > Galchenyuk
Jones, Trouba > Määttä, Ristolainen

Ranking Monahan ahead of MacKinnon, maybe you're not a homer just a bad talent evaluator.

But I do agree Finland will be missing a very strong group, as will Canada, US and Sweden.
