He had a ton of talent.

Then he finally had a breakout season where he was almost a PPG player, and then..... he quits hockey? Strange situation that I dont remember the details of. Dont know if it was a family thing or he was just sick of hockey or what, but he scored something like 30 goals that didnt play again for 5 or 6 years.

He had a kidney disease (IgA nephropathy) which kinda ended my hockey career (as a bad rec league player) as well - so I don't know how much that actually impacted him.

The disease punches holes in your kidney, so you leak protein and basically end up getting really run down (blood cell counts go down like cancer). I always thought it had to do with stress and dehydration (as I was a roller hockey goalie at the time and losing 5lbs of water a game) but it ended up putting me in the hospital on death's door before they figured it out.
