Montreal is a great city for food, some of my favorites are:

B&M - for those in the know, this is THE pizza joint in town

Rubs - best BBQ in town, owners and staff are amazing and the brisket is better than anything I've gotten in Texas

Liverpool house - got a real kick out of this one, a little pricey but enjoyed it thoroughly

Tripoli (Laval) - my favorite go to for Greek. Roomier than the one in Park Ex and a little more laid back. Great food good portions

Moishe's - favorite steak house, the old school vibe is surpassed by the steak, love it there

Juliano's - for Italian subs

Which location for B&M? Reviews vary according to location.

Agreed on Rubs. Just saw that Juliano's is in Laval, got to try it.

Someone told me to try Tripoli, so now it's on my radar.

Deep dish? I don't think I've ever seen that in Montreal.

Yeah, there used to be Joe Chicago (Joe Chicago - CLOSED - Ahuntsic-Cartierville - Saint-Laurent, QC) where I used to go to, but it seems to have unfortunately closed down in the past year.

Any recommendations for Thai? Was a huge fan of Cuisine Bangkok in the Faubourg until they closed

Air Canada has come up with its annual top 10 new restaurants list across Canada.

For those of us in Montreal, we have two highly ranked entries that we can go for. Two local restaurants finished 2nd and 3rd on the list: Air Canada's Top New Restaurant Of 2018 Is Housed In A Big, Black Barn

However, there are several other restaurants that made the list, that are spread out across Canada. Maybe our posters who live in the areas they hail from, can give us their take on them or try them and let us know if they deserved to be on the list.

The above top 10 list was the result of a larger list that had been released in August: These Are The Contenders For The Best New Canadian Restaurants Of 2018

I've been to St Lawrence in Vancouver which was #4 on that list, really awesome French/Quebecois food. My tourtiere came out with a tiny Habs flag as an adornment, which was obviously an easy way to go talk to the chef. Would definitely recommend...not cheap, though

Thanks for your list.

Love Boustan but be wary of the one in Laval -- not all Boustans are created equal. It used to be amazing when it was corporately operated. It has since seen a couple of franchisees and the latest hasn't been at the same standard as when corporate ownership was directly running it. I'm a huge Boustan fan but have had to avoid the Laval location.

If you're in RDP for some reason, I've heard great things about Restaurant Samara, 8250 Boulevard Maurice-Duplessis, Montréal, QC H1E 3A3. I'm told it's better than Boustan. It's unfortunate they're only in RDP.

Dear god the Boustan in Laval on St-Martin is freaking terrible. Went 3 times, 3 mistakes.

For Vegans, here's something I've never seen: There's a breakfast/lunch restaurant in Pierrefonds with a complete Vegan menu, in addition to their regular menu. Not just two or three token options -- they've got a separate Vegan menu with 15-20 meals. I tried a couple and they're really good. Place is called "Yoolkies".

What's nice is it accommodates everyone. My family went a couple of weeks ago for brunch. Most of us ate the usual omelette/bacon & egg thing; my Vegan niece and brother-in-law had Vegan meals.

I have to eat the spicy pork ramen they do at imadake every month-month and a half. Like any respectable man, I have my pho spots, but that ramen arouses me in such dirty ways.

great spot for Japanese ''tapas style'' food.

Dear god the Boustan in Laval on St-Martin is freaking terrible. Went 3 times, 3 mistakes.

I tried to warn everyone about it. The franchise owners currently in place are easily overmatched by most other franchises. The one on Lacordaire in St-Leonard offers a good product and service. And of course, the original downtown.

Any Hidden gems in laval ?

Same question. I find Laval's choice of restaurants to be rather bland and yet there are ton of them.

Maybe there are some to discover.

I can recomment Rubs if you're a meat lover. Great experience every time.

One that's on my to-do list is Ola Kala, got pretty good reviews on Trip Advisor: Ola Kala, Laval - Restaurant Reviews, Phone Number & Photos - TripAdvisor

Someone went recently and claimed that the portions are now reduced and they charge a little more. I guess we'll have to find out.
