Like the old song says: "You got to give a little, if you want to get a little." A song the league and the players should learn the words to.

If both sides truly don't want an impasse (not sure I agree with that though) and both want to settle and get playing hockey then both sides have to give and take.

For example:

The owners want to GET a salary cap.
The owners have to GIVE unrestricted free-agency after the first rookie contract.

The players want to GET what they are worth.
The players have to GIVE up the punitive arbitration system.

You get what I mean?? No one side is going to be able to be the clear cut winner IF they both want to settle things. Unfortunately, it is becoming clearer and clearer that the owners, whom I support by the way, want it all....it's their business, they are the employees and its their puck....so play by our rules or not at all.

The problem is that neither side has any common sense. That's what's so fustrating for us fans.
